the bind is NOT a refutation of the AD, if you believe so then you are clearly relying on an outdated source.

An example way to fight it is to play for a pawn break in b5 and f5 and make trades to solve the spacial cramp
the bind is why you rarely see any GMs playing the AD you twit
just go homeand i dont think i ever said it was a refutation...
it just makes things a $hitload harder for black...
white plays relatively easily, while black is left there holding his dick in his hand wondering "wtf now?"

I chose the Nc3 variation.

obviously, the Maroczy Bind is played almost all the time as a sort of refutation to the AD
clearly you're not only an idiot, but a liar

great idea, let's all play Slavs and Semi-Slavs since they were used so much by top GMs in the Topalov-Kramnik world championship

and I can't ever remember grabbing myself and thinking "wth now" when I faced c4

"it isn't but might as well be"?

...that's practically contradicting yourself...so not only do you fail at chess, but at grammar

I was wondering what the stats were. So I got all the games on my database which had the starting position of the accelerated Dragon in (ie the position after 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cd 4. Nxd4 g6 - I'll miss some transpositons from the Hungarian defence) and then restricted the filter to games where both players had ratings over 2,500. There were 494 games. 5. c4 is the most popular move played 64.1 % of he time and scores 56.7%. 5. Nc3 the next most popular played 30% of the time and scores 57.1% - so slightly better than 5. c4. 5. Be3 was played nine times and scored 72.2%. So the Maroczy bind at top level is the most popular, but doesn't actually perform any better than any other line of play.

I looked up the normal Dragon as well and and it was played 638 times by players with ratings over 2,500. The main line with Be3 and f3 scores 61.% and is played in around 72% of games.

Based on what Grandmasters do the Maroczy bind doesn't perform any better than any other attack against the accelerated Dragon, and that Grandmasters don't seem to be put off the accelerated dragon.

those stats can be distorted by the number of games for Nc3 and the other line...
if most GMs play c4, then it is considered best...

White to move.

Here is the line I seem to reach as black vs the bind.
