There can be many reasons why a player continues his game in an almost hopeless position. Some people keep the hope for a stalemate. Rising irritation might strengthen that hope. Some people like to play to the bitter end as their way to get on terms with their defeat. Some players like to see how a strong player will handle such a situation. Some people may hope the other will run out of time. Some people may hope there might come a day their opponent will be drunk and do some very weird moves. Some people may continue because it will have a better effect on their rating when they surrender at a later moment. And some may not see their lost position.
These are all legitimate reasons to continue a game in an almost lost position.
Besides that I think no one should make any comments in the forum on running games as long as they move within the chess rules.
