I play it all the time, it's amazing how many people take the pawn and end up with a difficult game after pawn-e5 forces the knight to retreat back to it's original square. If they try anything else, it just gets worse for them.

Lately I've encountered the following a lot: 1.e4,e5 2.Nc3,Nf6 3.Bc4,c6,a line I almost never faced before.
The only literature I have on the Vienna is Santasiere/Smith's book: The vienna game and gambit,2nd revised edition 1992,which treats this line only very brief and is probably a bit outdated.
So now I wonder,has there been a reappraisal of this c6 line and nobody told me?
