May I suppose you think it would be great if Fischer would play here. That he would produce great games and be the top dog. I like Fischer as a chess legend, but he was a sorry champion . So was Alekhine. I speak of them as the men they are. Lasker is the grandest of all the champions? If Fischer were to play here? He would quickly be the top player?

I was talking about Lasker as a person. I do not know if you did not know that. Tal as a person. I do not know him. As a player. Botvinnik took him out. Tal had a weakness and Botvinnik took advantage of it. Tal never could over come his weakness as a player.

Tal as a person was supposed to be the nicest champion ever, always willing to play a blitz game with anyone, etc. etc...

I did know he was a very popular champion. I am glad to know that Tal was such a fan's champion. I hate that Fischer was so sorry of a champion. Fischer is the worst champion ever. He never played a game as champion when he said he would be a fighting champion. He was so afraid of loosing the title that he refused to play Karpov????? Fischer is the only champion to never play a title game. The chess public loved Fischer and this is how he treated us. I hope Kramnik is a fighting champion. I know Kasparov and Karpov were. You like Tal. I think he was a great player. One of the best ever. In his peak, before Botvinnik show the world how to beat him , he never lost to Fischer.

Fischer would complain about the size of the diagram boards and whine about the chess piece options and drive Russ crazy. Then he'd trash talk about David Tebb and let himself get timed out of the first game of their match. My guess is Tebb would beat him, though, (given the number he did on Kasparov). That would leave Fischer to go find some place in an ever-shrinking world where his act still plays. Don't get me wrong, the greatest player ever as far as I can tell, but whatta maroon.

I'd think David Bronstein, Tal, or the late Tony Miles would fit in a little better here.

If we could just get Bent Larsen to join the Red Hot Pawn Stars...

Yeah I think that is why he vanished! He did not want to get beat! But no he is not the worst world champion ever he was and ever the first American world champion ever and that is what I like about him. πŸ™‚

I doubt Tebb could beat Fischer often enough to stay on top. I never heard that Fischer trashed talked. Seems like Fischer had personal problems pluss he valued privacy. He was too public to have the privacy he desired. Fischer was correct about the Russians cheating. They have been cheating for more than fourty years to keep the title in Russia. Not all of Fischer's rants are delusions. Fischer stated that Kasparov never played a legitimate game. Fischer must be loosing his mind. Kasparov is one of the strongest players ever. Really I have no idea how strong a e mail player Fischer would be. Ast68 is the strongest e mail player I ever saw. He totaly destroyed Chessmaster 7000. Of course he took up to 30 days for some moves and the game took more than year to play.

He is not the first American to be World Champion. Steinitz was the first ever offical World Champion, and he was an American citizen when he won that title.

Also, concur with everyone who said that Fischer was a sorry excuse for a champion. And to this day, he is a sorry excuse for a human being.

Let us not go so far as to call Fischer a sorry excuse of a person. Fischer has emotional problems. He is his own worse enemy. I hate what Fischer has become. He seems hopeless. He seems like a person snakebit than knocks the antivinin away stateing that you are trying to poison him.

I saw where you said Tal never lost to Fischer. Thats not true although I believe Tal had a plus score overall against him. I'm looking in "My 60 Memorable Games" by Fischer . He won In Bled 1961 as white against the Sicilian. I'm sure he has won others. Its good to read what I've always thought-that Fisher was a big chicken really. Always with some excuse. If he was as good as he said then he would have just shut up and continued to play tough competition. Kasparov could have beaten him. Kasparov is a true champion. He is still playing great after 20 years, He takes on the strongest computers. Promotes chess always. Fischer wasted his talent I think its sad that in America people just hang on to him. Enough already. He is a sorry excuse for a human.

And, most importantly of all, if TAL joined up, he'd join MY clan. :-) (Check out the theme...) After which I'd issue a whole bunch of one player challenges to everyone. 😡

When you applaud the deaths of over 3,000 innocent people, you have more than "emotional problems". I will continue to enjoy the games he left us, but any respect I ever had for him as a member of the human race, is gone.
