Ok, time to reveal the code.
The "manipulation" was that I was able to ask people to write down a number and they did it without question.
First I will start a number and the next poster look at it and put the first number that comes into your mind (they must be positive integers between 1 and 1000). Then the next person and the next person etc. Soon a chain will build up but also a pattern - I will post the connection once a few numbers have been posted and you will be shocked at how you missed it.
You spoke of no manipulation. You did speak of a pattern and a connection. You asked people
to participate and they did. You've revealed no 'code,' only that you invited people to play a
game and they did with the expectation that you had something to contribute.
Oh so very clever.

I wasted valuable time reading this thread. Terrible thread, mostly because of the wording. Pattern? Connection?
Take a look at Thread 55031 and you will see a similar study.

Originally posted by TyrannosauruschexBut you are not manipulating numbers as indicated by title! You are manipulating people ... something we all do on a day to day basis.

eg
I go to a shop and ask for some bread. The shopkeeper is manipulated into giving me some. We ALL do what we think we ought - its no big deal, it aint big & it aint clever,
