Actually the FDA issued guidlines for clinical studies:

https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-issues-first-draft-guidance-clinical-trials-psychedelic-drugs
Im sure their talking about micro dosing, as a tolerance builds and the need for higher doses, I’m sure the dependence/addiction levels will create their own set of issues.

Of course you should only dose as much as is required. And if you inetract with brain chemistry one needs to be really really alert of transintentional effects.

So yes and yes if the drug is actually worsening the problem it is nt recommendeation (apart from desperate cases).

All I’m saying is in a world of addiction and the need to escape what could go wrong? It’s a small stepping stone that could have a lot of negative results in many directions and not just those that could benefit from taking small amounts. People also like escaping to just have a good time leading to abuse and the issues that causes.

The clinical efficacy of psilocybin has only been observed with large doses. One or two large doses will, for many, result in an improved outlook on life for up to six months or more, after which another dose may be required. Some seem to experience permanent improvement. Physiologically is it found in brain scans that psilocybin increases neuroplasticity, which means the brain is attaining an enhanced ability to rewire itself. So these observations taken together indicate a vast potential for treatment of depression and other psychological/psychiatric maladies.

As for microdosing, clinical trials struggle with placebo effects, and so far the studies that have been done have been usually quite short (just a few weeks).

As for tolerance, it's generally found by users of psilocybin that tolerance built up from a typically-sized large dose (somewhere between 3.5 to 5 grams of dried mushrooms) vanishes after two weeks at most. It seems unlikely that a microdose, which is somewhere under 0.5 g of dried mushrooms, is going to result in a tolerance that lingers beyond 24 hours, but that's just a conjecture on my part.

Magic mushrooms are not really a great party drug, and like most psychedelics have no real potential for addiction. I did around a dozen trips on shrooms around 7 years ago, largely for the spiritual experience and to explore aspects of consciousness and the nature of reality. Then I stopped, since I felt I was not learning anything new, but nonetheless it seemed to me that I had a lasting, greater connection to the world, and I was led to meditation, aspects of Zen Buddhism, and discarding unfounded physicalist attitudes in favor of a form of philosophical idealism.

Recently I discovered what's called analytical idealism, originated by Dr. Bernardo Kastrup, which has much in common with the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer, only it has certain modern updates that incorporate the idea of reality being grounded in a unitary field of subjective experience (i.e. consciousness), and all living organisms are dissociated alters of this field. As a matter of fact I'm finding myself going on about this subject at some length at this thread here:

Anyway, back to psilocybin mushrooms, I'll just say they can be good medicine for some, but take care with them. They are something of a sacrament, and not a party drug. The ancients used psychedelics extensively as part of their spiritual rites, and I think for good reason.

Take care indeed. Although not particularly addictive, they can, for some, result in ongoing problems with concentration or perception, losing the ability to distinguish between fantasy and reality.

I was thinking of people micro dosing lsd for a lot of the same reasons, sorry. Five grams of mushrooms for someone at one time seems concerning, especially if they have never done them. None the less I would still have the same concerns I mentioned above with abuse and it’s spread outward, along with things like wrecks and on…. I think you’re a little naive when it comes to the risk of addiction and how many people do abuse these types of drugs now. I’m also not sure how much you’re considering or even understand the people with this high almost never ending depression what they go through and the ends taken to rid it, as not many do. This depression is very common, and more than likely with the highest numbers in people with autism, along with high levels of anxiety. It would be awesome if it was a cure, but I doubt it as the issues go deeper than a couple high doses of psilocybin can fix. The last part you wrote sounds interesting, but would probably need to be it’s own thread to get the proper attention and mention what you learned from this.

Yeah, it is the rare drug that has no potential to adversely affect at least a few rare individuals. There are folks who will do shrooms several times a week, which I think is foolhardy, and others who may be self-treating with them for very serious depression issues—also unwise. Anyone with schizophrenia or other psychological conditions should NOT take them solo, and seek professional help. Those without underlying conditions who are inexperienced with psychedelics should follow the guidelines concerning "set and setting," and consider having an experienced "trip sitter" nearby in case the experience goes sideways.

'Nuff said, I suppose.

Everyone is different. For me, shrooms were a positive experience. I took a few trips again recently, after an almost 7-year hiatus, and gained new insights. But some react badly to them. For some, a mere half-gram dose of dried shrooms can be overwhelming. Here's the thing: the psilocybin content in different crops of shrooms can vary widely, based on innumerable variables. In the times I did do shrooms I always controlled the variables as much as possible by growing my own. (Also I've heard that stuff sold on the street can be adulterated with other crap, etc.)

Anyone who is intent on experimenting with psychedelics of any kind should first dose with a ridiculously tiny amount to make sure they're not exceptionally sensitive to the stuff, or have an exceptionally concentrated product.

There's a lot of information here, for anyone curious: https://www.shroomery.org/

It sounds like you were of sound, clear mind before taking, and for a certain reason which is totally different from Anyone taking them for severe depression, in difficult times. There hasn’t been enough research to say either way yet, I’m just not sure adding these types of drugs is the answer. I agree if you can’t get them from a trustworthy source don’t take them. The ones I’ve seen are chopped and put into large empty medicine capsules you can buy, so you don’t know what’s truly in them, your life isn’t worth it.

I think of it as having two drinking glasses, one with an invisible hairline crack. It's only when you whack both glasses on the table that the pre-existing crack becomes known and the one glass shatters. (The other might survive numerous whacks without any damage).

Like you say, we are all different. Most people can probably experiment with such drugs without any problem, but at the end of the day, we never really know which of us has a pre-existing crack.

You know, in one of my very few experiments with shrooms, I got into this feeling of love and such, pulled open the refrig, saw some onions and you know how if left alone they generate stalks, I looked a that and got this overwhelming emotion of love for all things living and just how wonderful it was for those onions to be trying to grow in spite of being in a refrigerator🙂

Why here, you ask? Because this space is monitored by various governments after my "reveal" in 2021, and because I was, at some point, and suspected I was at the time, tapped/bugged.

Yet you type your brilliance here instead of starting a thread that fits into your idea of a proper scientific topic. You would do better working on your chess, it’s in bad shape instead of making fun of this person.

It's no secret, you apply a method to diffuse. Rather than use carrier oils or humidifier, put in Dead sea salt and warm water to get full sensory benefits.
