Personal dignity? How can you expect people to show you any, when you can't even be bothered to show the same to anyone else? The way you treat everyone in this forum is abysmal.

Almost 200 posts in a few hours. I was going to comment earlier but some friends passed by and we were enjoying the last [food and drinks] of the season. Cant read through all that.

Its almost like a Sonship thread ... 😀

Précis:

OP cites 2 JW leadership directives which appear contradictory and actually quite hypocritical

About a 100 posts of questions from non JWs

About 100 posts of deflection, avoidance, denial, incredulousness and a couple of persecution claims from the JWs

Standard fare.

And who are you to say he doesn't??????????????

Because it is *clear* to me, and must be even to you, that some "Christian" congregations, especially these days, are not entirely "Christian" to begin with. No man is without temptation, and many in positions of apparent authority in some churches have been led astray themselves. I'd think this much would be obvious to you.
I agree it has gotten worse from our viewpoint, but you know human imperfection has been as long as man has sinned. So is now so much different that theire is no hope left? You've lost faith in God and Jesus to think they still can't control their true congregations? How sad......

Ok thanks. My view of your opening point is as follows -

The doctrine of the Apostles is full of statements .. and all of these must be taken into consideration before coming to conclusions. Paul did in fact warn against fellowshipping with unbelievers. But there are other statements which if considered leads to a more moderate view :

So Paul said:

2Co 6:14-15 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

You have to really stretch and twist that to make it mean that all non-JWs have to be sidelined. Paul is referring to Christians not associating with idol worshippers or wrongdoers.

Paul also clarified the position of the unbelieving spouse :

And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. (1 Corinthians 7:13-14 KJV)

The typical JW tendency is to disfellowship and sideline at the drop of a hat. This is not in line with the teaching of the Apostles.

I still don't see why there is this attack on JW alone, when 'religions' like Scientology have done a lot worse to their quitters. Why not rail against them? They are TRULY nutters. I gather everyone just glossed over my post here on that group. They make JW's look like saints.

Indeed, what he has posted is the usual nonsense, he states and I quote,

we disfellowship people 'at the drop of a hat', which is nothing more than an ignorant lie, in fact, what happens is the person is asked to repent and bring their life back into harmony with scriptural principles, if they do, they are simply forgiven and counsel is given to assist them, to make amends, if they refuse then witnesses may be called, the alleged offence investigated and a judicial hearing called, all of which takes time, effort and many unpaid hours and only after guilt has been established and a refusal to bring ones life back into harmony with scriptural principles is the individual removed from the congregation and an announcement made that such and such is no longer a Jehovah Witness. To state that its done at the drop of a hat is simply a reflection of the ignorance that pervades the issue, no one wants to see a disfellowshipping and every effort is made to attempt to help the individual bring his or her life once more into harmony with scripture.

As far as I can tell we are the only Christians who take seriously the admonition to keep the congregation clean of corrupting influences as the apostle admonishes, as you will observe all others are simply content to pander to their vices, after all, once saved always saved is their motto!

Maybe it's because there are no Scientologists here to debate with?

I have read Rons book but i don't think i have ever come across a real Scientologist. I remember hearing on the news that only recently they were givn the right to perform marriages in their own churches. Are their meetings open to the public?

JWs come to my home trying to sell me their version of salvation. Dont have 'religions' like Scientology in this part of the world, so they are a nonissue for me personally.
