What would it take to pursuade you of the existance of a supernatural being/ deity?
But at this late date, I would suggest: go about life receptive to direct divine revelation.
Originally posted by karoly aczelI have heard of this story, I don't know however if it is true, or how one could verify it.
Did you hear about the South American 'indians' that could not see the sailing ships (of some sea conquering spain/english guy), until they came to shore with row boats because they could recognize them as they had similar canoe type boats and hence could "visualize" them.
It was the shaman that saw the sailing ships docked 100m of shore. He/She told ...[text shortened]... emselves as well.
Perhaps there could be a similar sort of "blindness" with "ufos" ?
That said I also don't know what the relevance would be either way to my post, or what point
you may, or may not, be trying to make.
However...
I don't think such 'blindness' would be applicable to UFOs in today's age, partly because we
have such things as aircraft, and have tv shows where all kinds of flying craft are visualised.
This isn't to say that people can't be deceived, far from it, most of what you see is made up by
the brain, and we can see patterns and images in all sorts of things, based on what we know or
think we know.
However if a space ship came and parked itself in front of me I don't think I, or anyone else in the
western world (ignoring those who are not sane or are visually impaired) would have trouble seeing it
or comprehending what it might be.
That said, I think the chances that any of the UFOs seen in the skies are aliens come to visit us, to be
extremely thin.
And the evidence currently non-existent.

The evidence for UFOs from Other Worlds (ie aliens) is non-existent, or not
available to the science or the general public, which is for practical purposes the
same thing.
I don't know what you saw, but I would ask this...
You may have seen a flying object that you can't explain...
But how do you know that the ONLY (or even most likely) explanation for it is a
spacecraft flown by aliens from another world?
And no you seeing it doesn't convince me, because you could be (Have been);
lying,
deceived,
mistaken,
hallucinating,
And I have no way of telling.
This isn't to say I couldn't be convinced that aliens are visiting earth...
But I would need pretty convincing evidence.
Originally posted by karoly aczelI am fairly sure someone made up that story. I don't believe that one must have seen something before before one can visualise it. That's total nonsense. If anything people tend to visualise what they haven't seen.

Tongue in cheek after Dasa's atheist thread i would assume.
Although its probably not the wisest title for the thread, as it encourages diversions into
'is the title of the thread insulting?' rather than sticking to it's, presumed, intended purpose.
Originally posted by googlefudgeI imagine scum wouldn't like the title. Or at least, theistic scum. 🙂

Atheist scum checking in!
As for what it would take for me to believe in the supernatural - I'd need to experience some sort of phenomenon that neither I nor many witnesses present could rationally explain away as something even possibly natural in the vaguest sense (like say my right leg turning into a fire-breathing dancing banjo taking it upon itself to transport me and 50,000 witnesses 65 million years into the past to talk about politics with dinosaurs before setting us all back here with video footage -- yeah that ought to do it!). It would also have to be shown we're not all suffering from some coincidental group delusion.
Of course I understand that for a timeless god who is omnipotent and omniscient (thus knowing my mindset) this relatively trivial demonstration would be quite an inconvenience for it; and so doomed atheistic trash I shall remain ;]

But I also felt an energy in my chakras as it passed-not sure if the government can do that.
But I'm not ruling out the posiblity that it was govt made
However it was very fast and appeared to defy gravity and g-forces. VERY Fast-and then just stopped on a dime with no decelleration. Then shot up with no acceleration. I know what I saw and felt.

But I would point out that Southend on Sea tends to get surges in UFO sightings....
Every time they have a laser light display.....
Just saying.

It was really the experience that convinced me. I dont expect anyone else to believe it . I tell these stories because sometimes you come across someone with a similar experience and through cross referencing perhaps we can get more to the heart of the truth.
I didn't believe in aliens or ufos before that sighting and another series of weird events.
I'm trying to come up with the most honest explanation. I am not trying to "glorify" or say I'm special or anything- just trying to relay the facts as I saw them. (I would be happy to answer any other questions and if I dont know, I will tell you)
