Actually the Bibles counsel is to deaden ones body members, to keep our thoughts chaste, masturbation simply feeds desire through fantasy which i suspect is why pornography is so prevalent. The Bibles counsel is, if you do not have self control then you should get married and enjoy sex with your wife.

Deaden ones body members? Sounds nasty. 😕

I think it's the other way around. If you can't find (or can't have) a partner,
and the pressure builds up, not shaking willy could be a real problem. In fact, I
suspect that's the problem we see in some priests.

yes its a figure of speech i think. I agree the prohibition on marriage is both anti-Biblical and unnatural and is condemned in scripture! The Bible is quite explicit and frank about sexual relationships between husband and wife.

Only if one is already betrothed (engaged). The bible does not condone marriage arbitrarily as a source of sexual release.

Nor does masturbation make a person turn gay.

I think it does. I doubt you can twist this :

1 Cor 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Then again ...

So, let's get this straight you believe that the Bible supports the notion of two people getting married for the sole reason of having sex?

There's also the overwhelming evidence of obesity and heart disease, but no one stops eating. There's evidence that driving a car maims and kills people, but people still drive anyway.

Sure, we could build a bunker and hide there, afraid of all the bad things that might happen to us if we venture out into the world and actually experience it. But what a waste of a life that would be.

If Robbie made the decision to do just that, then I would support him whole heartedly.

Yep. Love is not a requirement for marriage.
The main purpose is sex and procreation.

You think David and Solomon was in love with their hundreds of wives?

There is a purpose to that encouragement in the Bible. ie to avoid sleeping around. If you want to have sex then have it with someone you are going to stay with.

I'd prefer my daughter marry someone with self-control.

Do you really think masturbation indicates someone without self-control?

You may as well say that someone who scratches an
itch or blows their nose has no self-control.
