By volume, he had ten times the blood of any non-God-man. That movie is torture porn for religious misanthropes.
To me it says there are a lot of people who believe it went down that way with all that brutality. And whose to say it didn't, but if it did, then something is not right.
I sense you think it's the amount and the viciousness of the torture that is "bunged up", because as I say , no human could endure that and still walk ...

"King of Kings". Jeffrey Hunter is marvelous as Jesus.
"The Last Temptation of Christ" is an interesting take on the "Jesus story".
I found "Jesus Christ Superstar" unwatchable.
Originally posted by JS357Yeah, and I think it was a mixer of music with a little musical comedy added such as "King Herod's Song" and even the more serious "This Jesus must Die" song due to the contrast between the low bass voice and the high voice of that other guy that caused a burst of laughter when I saw it.
People do have strong reactions one way or the other about the 1973 production if you are talking about the movie. It is definitely dated in style. But it feels to me like it tells the real story about how Jesus threatened to upset the delicate balance of power between the Romans and the Jewish hierarchy, and what it could have been like to be Jesus and Judas.
Originally posted by karoly aczelI don't know about the movie, but the Holy Bible says Jesus was unable to carry the cross or cross beam and a Roman soilder pulled a man from the crowd watching to finish carrying the cross the rest of the way to the crucifixion site.
Surely it is this movie that we should be discussing as Mel tries to get it as it was.
Surely only the son of god or a supernatural man could have endured all those tortures and still had enough energy (or still be alive), to be able to pull that cross up that hill 😕
Originally posted by RJHindsYes, yes, that's exactly what I'm referring to. If you take a literal interpretation of the man and the times he lived in, then you would have to come up with all kinds of rumor-type drivel to make it work. No real man could take that and still walk.

No disrespect intended. Do you have one?
Mine is Jesus Christ Superstar (1973, specifically)
The music, the message, the mood, it was a little 70's cheesy, but...
I'm willing to spend a little of my street creds on this recommended few minutes.

My favorite movie with a Jesus is The Big Lebowski.
But I guess you are asking about that other Jesus. I guess my favorite would be The Last Temptation of Christ, but I haven't seen several of the other films that have been mentioned here.
Ben Hur
About 2 minutes into the clip.
And there is a pretty good race clip, for its day. Before Bullitt.
