@kellyjay saidWhat's the matter with you?
If you are not insulting or setting up someone to insult, are you posting at all?
Kilroy70 pointed out that my sentence "If I know that water evaporates when it is heated and so do you..." COULD be taken to mean that I am saying you AND water BOTH evaporate when heated [and not just that we both know that water evaporates when it is heated.
He was making harmless fun of my sentence.
Where is the "insult"?
What is the matter with you?

@fmf saidYes, it was meant as a harmless joke, to lighten the mood. But seriously, are you really at all surprised he might feel insulted?
Yes, obviously. But KellyJay thinks you have "insulted" him or that both you and I have "insulted" him or that maybe only I have "insulted" him. In fact, you were just kidding me about my ambiguous sentence! Gosh, it's like walking on eggshells!
There's obviously a history between you two (and your wingman) going back for what, years?
Please do not fill me in on the details. I've seen enough to know I don't want to know.
@fmf saidIt wasn't meant as an insult, but I can see how it could be taken that way.
Yes, and I got the joke. "But seriously", I think it's ridiculous that he felt insulted by you teasing me about my sloppy sentence.
If you two get along so well in private messages, then what's up with all of the rancor and silly word games I've seen directed toward him in a public forum?
Is it really all just fun and games between two good friends?
I'm on a "truth quest" at the moment, but could revert back to happy ignoramus at any time. It's probably best if you don't reply until that happens

@kilroy70 saidI do not see how "truth" and "happiness" are antithetical. You have mentioned facing "the truth" about your chess and KellyJay mentioned "the truth" about COVID. Neither of these appears to be the stuff of which a life "quest" is made.
I'm on a "truth quest" at the moment, but could revert back to happy ignoramus at any time.
@fmf saidI want to get to the point where I can tell the difference between jokes and real insults with you; we are not there yet. Do you think I should have just known you were joking? If I were to say I was only joking, would you believe me? Would you believe me if, instead of realizing I offended you, I started telling others how thin-skinned you were that you felt insulted? Instead of apologizing for not realizing how that was going to be received, you pile on. No apology; instead, you say talking to me is like walking on eggshells, and I'm supposed to know the difference.
Yes, obviously. But KellyJay thinks you have "insulted" him or that both you and I have "insulted" him or that maybe only I have "insulted" him. In fact, you were just kidding me about my ambiguous sentence! Gosh, it's like walking on eggshells!

@kellyjay saidI am not the slightest bit "thin-skinned" KellyJay. I have copped 50x more abuse and insults on this forum than you have over the last decade or so. It all bounces off. Indeed, stuff like sonship's "animal excrement" insults amuse me and I think they in part define his forum persona.
Would you believe me if, instead of realizing I offended you, I started telling others how thin-skinned you were that you felt insulted?

@kellyjay saidApologize for what? Nobody insulted you.
Instead of apologizing for not realizing how that was going to be received, you pile on. No apology; instead, you say talking to me is like walking on eggshells, and I'm supposed to know the difference.
This long post of yours I have split into four responses is an example of you scattering eggshells around you.
I apologize if my candour sits uneasily with you.
@kellyjay saidThat depends very much on your boundary conditions.
Can one truth contradict another truth, or does that mean one, the other, or neither is actually true? Can truth be contradictive?
two contradictive truth's that can be true at the same time:
A holds for true that he is right and B is wrong.
B holds for true that he is right and A is wrong.
However you probably want to talk "facts" whatever they are. We come to
An electron behaves like a wave.
An electron behaves like a particle.
Both statements are ture, depending on your test setup.
