@kellyjay saidI don't think I have ever met anyone who seriously believed "there is no such thing as truth". Maybe you have. As for "truth" about supernatural things, humans can only speculate. The speculation presumably ends upon death.
So you cannot say there is no such thing as truth, it falls on its face as a truth statement, being self contradictory.

@fmf saidIf people's speculations about supernatural things contradict each other, it doesn't really matter. KellyaJay, you clearly think it does, I'll grant you that, but I don't.
So if your God figure is "true" then that means that it is impossible to contradict that, is that what you are on about?
@fmf saidWhen someone has a ‘Damascus’ experience there is no speculation involved. It is a life changing experience. The error you make is ruling out the possibility that people can experience God and the supernatural in a real and meaningful way.

@kellyjay saidDo you accept that 'truth' (being what it is) could be that God does 'not' exist and that by asserting God 'does' exist you are yourself proffering a contradiction?
Truth is what it is.
You cannot have two contradictory things true at once.
You cannot be taller than 6 foot while at the same time be 5.4 feet tall.
You cannot have a square circle, or a bent straight line.
So you cannot say there is no such thing as truth, it falls on its face as a truth statement, being self contradictory.

@dj2becker saidI am not making any "error" about it. I have never once denied that people can feel they have very real experiences as a result of their faith, nor have I ever suggested that people's religious beliefs and personal opinions about superntaural things cannot be meaningful to them.

@fmf saidSo when you say it feels real are you implying that it isn’t in fact real but only feels real and is actually an illusion?

@dj2becker saidIf you have read and understood any of my posts on this matter in the last few weeks, or indeed thousands and thousands over the last 3-4 years, then you will already know the answer. My stance hasn't changed.

@fmf saidThere is no need for you to answer the question. Your deflection is an answer in itself.

@dj2becker saidIt isn't a "deflection".I have described and explained my perspective on people's religious faith in literally thousands of posts, many of them to you. You appear to be asking to jump through the hoop of repeating myself. I'm simply not going to do it.

@fmf saidThis is the same ripcord you have used multiple times. Well played FMF. 👏

@dj2becker saidI have discussed my perception and belief regarding other people's religious beliefs with you many times. Refer back to that.

@dj2becker saidI repeat myself when I choose to. You'll just have to setlle for what I have already posted.
I understand exactly why you suddenly can’t repeat yourself when in fact you have had no problem repeating yourself in the past.

@dj2becker saidSee my response on the other thread.
I understand why it would be inconvenient to ‘repeat yourself’ now if in fact you have said something that even remotely answers the question I asked in the past.
