"Let's say it's Thursday. You've been experiencing considerable discomfort in a particular part of your body since Christmas, enough so to phone your family doctor of many years for an appointment. Next Monday he sees you at 3:00 PM and asks for a further description of the symptoms and then does a full body audit along with blood work. At the desk an RN Assistant asks you to call for results and diagnosis by Friday. (Part 1 of 3 with an apology to Zahlanzi for veering widely off topic)"

You're relieved that it's nothing more serious and thank the RN for taking your call. During the next month, much to your surprise, the abdominal discomfort becomes frequent abdominal pain. Sleeping soundly also becomes a challenge. The OTC Antacid Tablets didn't help relieve the condition, even though you took the maximum daily dosage as stated on the bottle's label. Your family is concerned and suggests that you seek a second opinion from an experienced Internal Medicine MD.
You summarily dismiss the option as unnecessary for the time being [with the rationale that stomach aches are common and that you're really too young a man for the condition to be caused by the onset of any chronic illness]." (Part 2 of 3)

Three months pass, during which your abdominal discomfort continues unabated by over the counter medications. On one Saturday the discomfort becomes severe pain in both your abdomen and lower spine. You realize that it's time to be seen by an emergency room physician and be admitted to the nearby hospital for diagnostic testing and a prescribed medication to alleviate the pain. You believe senior doctors are not on shift during weekends, so wait until Monday to be examined.
9:00 AM Monday morning a family member drives you to the hospital. Even slight bumps in the roads are enough to cause you to wince audibly in pain. For the next six hours an assigned treating physician and several specialists examine you then order numerous tests. Late afternoon you're admitted to the Intensive Care Unit catheterized and on an intravenous infusion pump delivering potent pain medication. You refuse food; all you request is a cup of ice cubes to slake your thirst.
7:00 AM Tuesday your whole family has been informed of your status. Those who reside within the local area have gathered at your bedside as your assigned treating physician provides the Diagnosis: 'Pancreatic Cancer in a stage too advanced to permit surgical procedures. Patients with this condition don't show significant symptoms until the disease is already in its late stages. Prognosis: 'We regret to inform you and your family that only 6% live past the average median survival of five years and that most lose their lives within a year after diagnosis'. Your family is stunned. You're asleep. (Postscript to follow)

I'm long past giving a damn.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Postscript:
In Parts 1-3 it's been obvious to us both that the arrogance of this sick and dying man has been in denial of his hopeless condition. Sadly, he persisted in making bad decisions from a position of weakness. My sole purpose in presenting this hypothetical character to you has been to suggest the parallel between choosing for rather than against Christ. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten [uniquely born] Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16 "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you shall be saved." Acts 16:31 Look, googlefudge, all I've done here is to provide you with God's Plan of Salvation. The alternative for eternity is unthinkable. What have you got to lose?

Originally posted by Grampy BobbyAn answer to the question I asked would be more interesting. Your notion of "unlearning false assumptions" is purely subjective and, for all intents and purpose, an attempt at communication-stifling waffle. Regardless of what you personally happen to deem to be "true" or "false", once again, do you honestly believe that people can somehow choose to believe something that they simply do not believe?
