Jail is not the answer to the problem. So the answer is no.
I don't understand you, Ivanhoe: you call abortion murder, but don't
want to impose the same penalties on those who seek and perform
them as you would a parent who killed their three-month old. You call
a zygote a child -- one entitled to all the rights and privileges that a
post-partum child would -- but you don't want to penalize a
parent who abuses her zygote by smoking and drinking, abuse that
is scientifically demonstrable.
Can you please explain your dichotomous stance, because it makes
absolutely no logical sense to me whatsoever?

There isn't a "dichotomous" stance as you call it.
I am not so much into punishment as some on this site would like you to believe.
I am more in favour of teaching people what is right and wrong, educating people, teaching people how they can solve their problems, helping people to solve their problems.
Giving people education, treatment, therapy and offering help rather than punishment is my approach.[i]

3-month old child should be punished?
If that statement is correct, then I apologize for accusing you of being
dichotomous.
If you believe that a person who does either of those things should
be punished, then your stance is contradictory: either a fetus has the
full rights and protections of a child, or s/he doesn't.

Do you believe that a woman should be punished if she murders her
own 3-month old child?
Do you believe that a woman should be punished if she has an
abortion (and, if so, should the penalties be the same as any
penalties above)?
If the answers to these questions are different (i.e., Yes and No,
respectively), then what is your reasoning?
The reason I am so puzzled is because you have claimed that a
fetus (or zygote) is a person and entitled to the rights and privileges
of personhood.
I look forward to your straightforward answer. Please feel free to
answer with more than just a 'Yes' and 'No' but please give a definitive
answer rather than your ad hominem attack like the last one.

Why don't you go and pick a fight with someone else. I'm not in the mood right now.
