The Da Vinci code?
Interview with a vampire?
Sweet Jesus, what's happening to my thread.
1.
There are no vampires, besides bats.
END OF STORY. COME BACK TO REALITY.
I'm not going to go into this one, because for the majority of folk it's rather , suckingly, obvious...
2.
The Da Vinci Code IS RUBBISH!
First of all there's no character evolvement. They're cartoon characters living in a 2D world. Useless drivel written in pure unspiration.
If you want to read this sort of drivel read "Foucault's pendulum" by Umberto Eco. Better written, harsher, better dialogues, better plot and ultimately far more to the point.
Second of all: The whole Da Vinci code is based upon "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" which is based upon "The priory of Zion" which is an admitted hoax by "Pierre Plantard" who wanted to establish a link between himself and the bloodline of France...
So there.
We're surrounded by crap.
So swallow it.
Dude, anyone who would have wasted time reading or watching DaVinci Code would probably not get 15 pages into an Umberto book before they gave up because it's over their heads.
I saw Golden Compass in a sneak preview and it was an amazingly well done movie.
Finally, is anyone really surprised that the sheepish-conservative-christians would judge and condemn a man or a book without reading, watching, or knowing anything about it?
So they miss out on another good thing because thinking for themselves is just too much effort. That's no sweat off my back.
Seems like there are always a lot of religious types clamoring for anyone to tell them what to think. I'm not sure christianity has much to do with it outside of it being the majority rule in the West.

To get back to point of this thread Yes, I think it's long overdue.
There are radio and TV channels whose whole purpose is to inspire those who are already religious (or take their money) or convert people who aren't (and/or take their money). It's not like this movie is designed to convert people to atheism. Even if it was I still think it'd be legitimate. If Christians really believed what they preach they would just laugh at all us sinners who are doomed to hell. Instead they show how self conscious they are and how weak their faith really is.

I think the main gripe of most christians who oppose the film is that it is a childrens film, and children are impressionable. Children shall be fed a biased story against religion. However, I'm unsure how many children will actually take in said message/story. I know I didn't when I first read it - I just thought it was a kinda weird story that mentions God. I missed the whole anti-religion part.
