Sniggers.

Well maybe if you didn't try telling US how WE think and feel then maybe you wouldn't attract thumbs down...

Just a thought.

When have I ever told you how you think? I am a little guilty of giving wolfgang a little grief here but he likes it that way. I know I will get more back from him too.

ah, I didn't say you were telling us how TO think.

I said you told us (or in this case wolfgang59) how WE thought.

Which is not the same thing.

And is quite a common thing for theists to do to atheists.

Every time a theist tells an atheist (or says about atheists)
that deep down we really believe, or feel gods spirit.. ect
and that we are just denying/repressing it... or something similar...

Then that theist is telling the atheist what they think the atheist is
thinking and/or feeling rather than asking the atheist what they think
or feel and then accepting/believing/listening to the answer.

So I take it you don't believe wolfgang is crying out for spiritual release? Not saying, just asking here. I did notice somebody gave me a mercy thumbs up.

Heh, yeah the thumbs down on that post are probably mainly comedy thumbs down...
Mine was.

No I don't think wolfgang is crying out for spiritual release, or crying out for anything really.

And that's based on what he's written.

What he's describing could be viewed as kind of the mirror opposite of the desire to blame
someone when something goes wrong.
We tend to be programmed to think of things in terms of agency, we don't naturally think
in terms of things just happening for no reason.
It's what drives most conspiracy theories, and supernatural beliefs in general as well as
religious ones in particular.

It feels good to swear at someone when something goes wrong, which is why there are so
many good swearwords and phrases referencing god/s.

The corollary could be a desire to thank someone for good fortune, or for success... ect.

This doesn't mean that that desire is rational, or points to an actual being who is responsible
and deserving of thanks, or ire.

Also, in his op wolfgang says that they have taken to taking time to give thanks to remind
themselves of their good fortune and to make sure they don't take it for granted.

This doesn't indicate a crying out for spiritual fulfilment.

Now wolfgang could be crying out for spiritual release (although i am not totally sure what that
actually means), But he's not given any indication of that that I have seen and so I am not going
to ascribe it to him.

its a reflection of their negative Karma, Karma will repay then with equal negativity for the arc of the universe tends towards justice. So where were we, oh yes, atheism really has no benefit and one would be better off joining a knitting club. Sorted.

Yes. But karma will strike you down for your cynical, if clever, play-acting on here! 😉
