An absolute text book example of forum passive aggression can be seen in josephw's behaviour here on Thread 167360 pages 13-15.

Let's see, someone once told you what passive-aggressive meant and so now you pull it out whenever someone doesn't agree with you, is that right?

It was in the "Memo" thread in the gf.
Oh I'm sure I said something to provoke him; I can't believe that Jospehw would say something like that unprovoked.
What's your thoughts on the principle being presented.
So the real question is: are these things you do on a regular basis? Do they preoccupy your thoughts to the exclusion of everything else? No? Then it doesn't apply to you, and certainly shouldn't be used as insult, to do so places oneself in the place of judge of anothers motives and intentions.
Originally posted by Dowardjosephw cited James 4:4 because divegeester made a harmless quip about (Christian) Grampy Bobby to (non-Christian) Wolfgang59 ~ at least that is what apparently happened - of course... what we then have here is josephw refusing to explain why he chose to try and land arguably the nastiest blow/insult that one Christian can deliver to a fellow Christian and why he thought it appropriate to do so while hiding behind a Bible verse.

There are, and I could cite many of them, loads of scriptures about brotherly love, honesty, integrity and importantly, the principles of admonishment of one another. I won't cite them, even if many of them are appropriate, because "mud-slinging" biblical verses in order to score cheap points on a forum thread about secular issues (the one where the incident occurred) is not edifying. Perhaps if josephw had had my best interests at heart he would have spoken with me privately. Of course, none of my detractors from the Christian "stable" here, have found the fortitude to speak up for me (and I certainly don't need them to). But that dynamic is part of what I find so interesting about these boards.
Originally posted by SuzianneWhy didn't you ask josephw if he "enjoyed driving wedges between people" with his citation of James 4:4? Do you think he believes divegeester is "an enemy of God"? I asked him several times - he wouldn't say. I have asked you several times - and you won't say. Questioning whether I feel "inadequate" is just a dodge.
Do you enjoy driving wedges between people? How inadequate do you have to feel, to feel better by doing that?

I didn't ask joseph that because I'm not the kind of monster you are. I don't raise questions I don't believe in just for the lulz. Exactly what crime do you imagine that joseph is guilty of, anyways? And why in the world do you ask questions that anybody knows the answer to? Because you refuse to dance to anyone else's givens. I think it's brilliant when people won't dance to yours.
"I'm the interrogator, dammit! I'll ask the questions here!"
Who's dodging? You, by not answering MY questions.
