Chavez was great. He just got some chips cashed in for him on that one.
and they were not ready to lose that 'ticket magnet' of the "no
defeats"
The guy should have retired with grace and class when he was 90-0.

Surprised the thread has got this far without mentioning Ali. But would have to agree that Marciano as the greatest. Retiring in good condition with 48 wins under his belt. Of course world title bouts were 15 rounds in his day rather than the 12 they fight today.

Ali was mentioned in the 2nd post.
I'll stick to my preference Pound for pound this guy was the greatest.
There is only one thing sure in boxing.. Don King is the pits and has reduced the once marvellous sport to a made for his pocket tv bs fiasco as bad at wwf wrestling..only most of the wrestlers are fit.

Surely you aren't defending King Vision?
I thought you would hate his control of events..
and his stable of fat palookas.
I ditched pay tv ages ago but still stay up late to watch the big ones..

To say King has ruined the sport is ridiculous. There's still plenty of good fights out there to watch.
Originally posted by no1marauderI don't know the others or the extent of true corruption in the pro boxing but I know that if you watch a King promoted fight it will end in a stinking controversy leaving you cheated. It isn't ridiculous to expect a decent fight between fighters that have been prepared well and to expect a decent fair result.

Anglo-Saxon fighters (and Puerto Ricans as well) are always clowns

The best serious boxers are Asian or Mexican/Hispanic,
particularly in the real boxing: light divisions*. Period.
