In the 60s & 70s the English Beer Bellies used to lie on the ball for a breather. The boks and abs used to give them a huge lesson in real rucking. It was hard and fair, never on the head. Many a great punch up evolved from careless head hits. They were good days to play rugby.
I know where you are coming from and do see your point of view but you have ...[text shortened]... t won't help slamming refs as biased.
A few are slow or bad but they really aren't biased.
Ritchie is a smart footballer and knows how to get away with it .
whatever ,this weeks Bledisloe will be a cracker.Just hope the man in the middle doesn't spoil it with non stop whistle-blowing,we want an open free flowing game ,not some stop start affair.
I think the weather will have a huge effect on the game too, hope its a dry track.

They ran out of puff last Saturday.. they will have to get a lot fitter to prove your point.

Now he's keeping them home to make them run laps and get fit.
Incidentally sending the second rate team on tour with tri nations has lead to a huge reduction in ticket sale here and in australia.. there is a big push to send the bill to SA.
Originally posted by Tirau DanWhen you post about rugby, all I read is blah blah blah blah.
Ritchie McCaw is targetted by opposition because he's so quick to the ball. He has had a number of serious head injuries after copping dirty play. Only recently Graeme Henry took the step of pointing this out to the ref's association. From the ABs point of view they are sick of teams that can't keep up the pace so they lay all over the ball killing the g ay international test rugby and you take 20 players out..
This stuff is spoiling the game.
You should really read through your posts before pressing that post button!
Ritchie keeps on infringing at the breakdown, because he's the only loose forward in the team playing 15 man rugby - the rest want to play 7's.
That's why he keeps on getting his head bashed.
Why he isn't pinged by the ref is beyond me.
So, the All Blacks get to rest players, but no-one else? What's the story? Are you guys worried that you'll win the Tri Nations and then fail in the World Cup again?
Originally posted by Tirau DanSure, they ran out of steam in the last 10 minutes. A game is 80 minutes.

Too bad we couldn't capitalize on running over the all black team in the first 20 minutes.
I'll ask again, why are you happy with a double standard? The All Blacks got a nice rest for half the Super14, what's wrong with SA resting a few, obviously tired, boks?

I objected strongly to Henry taking 22 men out of the super 14..it wrecked the competion but taking 20 men out of tri-nations to me is much worse.. this is supposed to be International Test rugby.
I object to you picking on McCaw playing to the rule. First you guys ping the ref for not having balls then you say they are inept for being on the wrong side of the ruck. Players have always stretched and played to what they can get away with on the field..
If you read my earlier posts I had praised the boks for being the form team, very very strong and every reason to suppose they go all the way...
You can be as strong as you like in the first 20 but the last 20 sorts the men from the boys and you constant whining about the rules and refs is couch potato crap... I played with Shelford and others and had my last game in 98.
Lets have a beer slap each other on the back and put a slab of meat on the barbie and move on.

I will still say that the refs are inept and maybe the linesmen can offer help with blindside infringements ,that will allow the ref to stay on the open side.
Wallabies played both super 14 and lead up tests(sorry guys just had to say that)
What teams you play for ?
My career highlight was playing in Hong Kong ,unreal experience .Currently still playing rugby .
Better idea lets have a Hungie, and i'll slap your backs and talk rugby and i'll watch you drink beer ,cause im a non drinker .
Originally posted by Tirau DanI don't like it either. Momentum for a team in a season is much more important to me than resting a week or two. Possibly winning the Tri Nations would've been much better for SA rugby. We should've rotated better in the S14 and the 3 tests before the TN, not this.

The double standard is there nonetheless. The kiwis rested players in the S14 and that detracted much from the competition. Just check out the rugby forums around the world - everywhere NZ people are now posting along the lines of 'the NZ teams weren't full strength, that's the only reason a SA side won the competition'.
This pisses me off. Alot.
Sure, this may be international rugby, but I don't think the NZRU has a leg to stand on, getting all pissy about it. You rested players, now we're resting players.
On the other hand, I don't like the way this whole thing has been handled. I hope it doesn't come out that SARU really promised to send a full strength side over and are now going back on their word.
That would just be so wrong.
Please don't let me lose what little respect I have for you by starting to post along the lines of: 'I played rugby until recently. What do you know?'
That kind of thing just gets my goat. I also played rugby, although never at club level. I stopped playing after a few games at varsity.
What does that matter? I know the rules just as well as you.
When a ruck is formed, the defending player(s) need to take their hands off the ball. Ritchie doesn't and he is just clever enough to get away with it.
This is not the point. He (and some other players) infringed ALL BLOODY GAME and if I remember correctly, only got blown up once for it.
The boks aren't angels, they do the same thing. The only difference is that we got yellow carded in two consecutive games and the opposition got away with it.
If the refs aren't crap, are they biased? You tell me.
Originally posted by CrowleyThe refs are not with it ,you get the constant whistle blowers and then you get the refs that like an open fast paced spectacle and let infringements go just for the game.

How many times do you see a tackled player in a ruck use his hands to push the ball back, this is an infringement and never gets penalised ,Why is that i ask?
Come to our Hungie Crowley and we can talk rugby HA HA ,you bring the meat .

Some refs blow the rules stricter than others - all we can ask for is that the same offense gets punished the same way in the same game.
Originally posted by CrowleyJesus Christ you're a fecking whinger - if he infringed ALL THE TIME he would get pinged all the time. What, are all the refs in on some sort of 'let Richie get away with it' conspiracy??

He plays to the edge and gets pinged a lot when he steps over. Just because he's a mile ahead of any other player in his position doesn't mean he's cheating all the time.

Nice to see you joined the Tirau Dan club.
Ritchie is good, but he isn't a mile ahead of anyone. Schalk Burger is a much better flanker and on the ground nobody can touch George Smith (at least HE gets penalized when he infringes).
