I'm thinking that the Pirates will win the wild card from the Reds. First of all, the Pirates are simply hungrier. They have not made the playoffs in quite some time and are exited, even though it is only a wild card. In Cincinnati, fans are a little put out with the Reds this year. Votto does not have the power he used to before his injury, they have had injuries that have hindered their season, and St. Louis cotinued to dominate them again this year. There is just a sense that they are only good enough to make the playoffs and never go any further.
The Bucks won the first game of the three game series this weekend, which means the Reds have to sweep the Bucks to win home field advnatage. Since the Bucks have an excellent home record, I say if they win another game its over, the Reds will be sent home packing Tuesday.
Of course, the sad part is, none of it matters. Some big money team like the Cards will knock either team out at some point.

Originally posted by ChaswrayThank you. I don't know very much about baseball, I don't have enough patience to sit through a full game.
The Cards have a team payroll of roughly 117M, eleventh highest in all of baseball. Compare that to the Pirates team payroll of roughly 66M, fourth lowest in baseball.
Originally posted by ChaswrayHowever the front office of the Cards is superior to pretty much all other clubs. That gives them an added edge.

Originally posted by whodeyYou gotta spend a little money if you want to compete. The nice thing about the Cards is that they don't just throw money at the free agent market and expect that to win for them. They build talent at all levels of their organization. The Cardinal Way baby.

Guess I ain't gonna' hear it this year either.....what a bunch of chokers....deer in the headlights the last 4 games!!! Can you say CCUUEETTOO? 🙂 LET'S GO BUCS!!
🙂
I don't think any of us Pirate fans would have been surprised to see the Reds win the World Series this year. But, in a one-game playoff, they never got to use weapons like Hamilton and Chapman. Pirate adrenaline kept them on the bench, and the Bucs definitely had the better attitude. Beating the Reds usually is accompanied by a sigh of relief, but this year Pittsburgh legitimately passed them.

In over 50 years of watching baseball, I have never abandoned the Pirates ship........CARDINALS...PREPARE TO BE BOARDED!!!!!
