Was there a category "original" and "cover"?

How many songs can we have?
How many per category?
Best lyrics will be limited to original songs I would hope.
Is that a separate category?
Do we name our songs with our RHP user name? (I'll either be at or at advantage disadvantage since many know 'my sound'.

Please list how Gate did it last time if that's your direction.

Song limit is one song per category. If someone wants a particular song to be considered over another in any particular category, then they should add the category of said name to the filename.

Yes, best lyrics is limited to original lyrics.

Format should be something like Songname-Username-Preferred Category

The categories you upload to are Computer, Instruimental and Vocal. This is just to give the tournament some structure.

Instrumental tracks cannot contain singing but best lyrics tracks may contain instrumentation.

Once the songs have been uploaded and voting has commenced, people will be asked to vote on their 1st 2nd and 3rd favourites out of all the valid entries, for each category/criteria.

Sounds good except for the "Best Original Track" which seems a bit superfluous too me. Aren't all entries not in the "cover" category an original track?

Best Original Track is the song you want voted that way. You might have a song for Best Vocal Track, or want it voted as Best Lyrics.

I sure won't have any songs in Best Vocal Track!

I don't think there is a need to upload your song to 2 or 3 folders, you put your song where you want it to compete. If you want to try for 4 categories, have 4 songs and place them where you feel they will do best.

I have pointed out the differences a few times, but if you need it in list form...

1. My biggest problem with the first comp was that the only category for covers and classical music was Cover, which is why I didn't enter any classical music (I thought it would be unfair towards those who entered a cover). In the last comp, classical pieces went into several categories, and while they were still in the Cover category (which is the one thing I would like to change, as I have stated earlier), people mostly ignored them there, as they could vote for them in other categories, so the real covers had a chance, too.

2. If I understand you correctly, you want to allow only one category per piece, as opposed to the last music comp round where the pieces were entered into all categories they fit into. The possibility of multiple categories for one entry means that the groups are bigger; and you can compare and vote for different aspects of the same pieces.

Ooops. Yeah, I meant to bin that one but got confused. I've changed my mind so many times, I don't know where I'm at. There is no 'original' category.

Come on Noodles. My suggested format is not a millon nano meters from what you suggested back on page 3 of this thread. I'm not doing this to make lots of complex rules and regs. I'm doing it so that we can all listen to each others' super musac skillz.
I never said that you can't enter classical covers in any other categories. The more rules I make, the more complex it will become. I am going to keep it as simple as possible. I'm just hoping that common sense prevails. Some songs obviously won't fit into some categories. I'm going to create the three afore mentioned files very soon. Just upload what you want and everything can be 'judged' on its own merit.
