Yeah, I've listened to quite a few Lovano discs, mostly from the 90's. What are you listening to? I don't really associate him with ECM other than the albums with Motian. Is there stuff that I'm not aware of?
Flights of Fancy - a trio and a collaboration with hank Jones Live at Dizzy's Club

He just reminds me of the ECM sound.

You do agree that there is an ECM sound don't you?

Sure, there's what I think of as the ECM sound: toward open, abstract and restrained. From what I've heard from Lovano as a leader, I wouldn't have put him there in general. Over the years Lovano has played everything from mainstream to Ornette style avant-garde. I've never heard "Flights of Fancy". It wouldn't surprise me at all that Lovano explored more of an open and abstract territory and I wonder if that colors your impression. I have heard the Jones disc and I guess I think of that as good modern mainstream jazz along with the two quartet discs Lovano did with him. I've long had a soft-spot for Jones. He's a real charmer.

Did Rouse record with the rest of the Monk combo? Does Monk make an appearance?
