What a classic album. One of several with Hank Jones at the piano.

Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong - Summertime

fun Louis anecdote...

Louis Armstrong loved reel to reel tapes. He made something like 1000 hours of a taped diary. The stuff is in the collection of a college...Hunter or Hofstra...I forget which college exactly.

On one of the tapes he recounts an incident while playing in Denmark. He did the gig. In attendance were members of the royal family. They liked his performance so much, they invited him back to the palace for a meal. Louis knew a guy who had opened up a soul food restaurant in the area. He apologized and told the royals that he was going to go to his friend's restaurant. So, undeterred, the royals packed up and went with Louis and had soul food with him!

I have that album recording. Jazz has so many great lady singers today. A very rich time for them.
