Yes, for sure, but It is not just a human rights matter. States have their own rights, about how people act and interact. Legislators decide if certain activities are OK in their respective states, and decide if there are some things that are not acceptable.
That is their right. Are you saying that the citizens of a state, through their elected representatives, of ...[text shortened]... loving children, can not abhor aborting a heart-beating fetus? You will not answer this question.
I’ll help you: slavery is banned by international law and treaties.
And abortion isn’t it.
That makes it slighly shadier ground. I agree to that.
And I agree, in principle, that a sovereign State is allowed to choose which laws they adopt within the context of signed international treaties.
However, a fetus is an integral part of a woman’s body. If the woman drinks booze, the fetus gets drunk. If a woman kills herself, the fetus dies too. Ergo: the survival of the fetus isn’t morality or law: it’s the choice of the woman what she does with her own body.
So, even if the simple conservative Christian would never dream of abhorting a poor little fetus herself, it’s not her call what another person does to their body.
All society can do is make sure it’s all as safe and medically sound as possible.
There are three international “rights” (basically a signed convention, so more a guideline than a law) which play an important part in this debate:
- right to privacy
- right to freedom of religion and belief
- right to liberty and security of person
Ask yourself this: if a pregnant woman kills herself, does the fetus die?
The answer is yes. So, you can only judge the fetus as being an integral part of the woman’s body. Her body. Her choice.
Taking away the rights of what a person can do with their own body is a serious infringement on international agreements.

But, it’s a woman’s body. If she doesn’t want an abortion, so wants to keep the fetus full term, then I am perfectly willing to slap the bastard with a double homicide.
