I love that modern music. It is the ones that they Play on the Christian redio Stations. Thats a poor reason though. Once my dad, mom and I though had gone to the Catholic Church in San Jose Ca. and my dad complained that it was to loud. I like the radio Music though and the words to some of the Songs it brings you hope.
Like the one radio Stations says is ...[text shortened]... sic KLove.
The best song I like are I can only amagine and a song called Thank you by Ray Boltz
vapid. God deserves better than the same three chords
over and over again. God deserves better than lyrics like
'How Beautiful.'
Music in church is not supposed to make you 'feel good.'
It is supposed to reinforce the theological concepts of
your faith. Saying 'I love Jesus' over and over again
barely qualifies.
It is symbolic, though, of fundamentalist thought.
It's 'easy' music, just like it is 'easy' to say 'I love
Jesus.' Just like most fundamentalist preachers
never say anything original, but repeat the same
tired themes over and over again, so too does
Christian Rock only appeal to the basest of musical
affections.

no because, as a Christian I fear not. A lot of the Churches tough like the Pentacostal Preach not O.S.A.S. but the Presb. and the Baptist do. And when I left the Pentacostal Church and had gone though some tough times, I felt this battle going on for me between Satan and God. (Capitalize God so you don't descredit him) So anyways. I came back and I realize I was save the whole time, I was just out of Fellowship.

forget this world and worship, be it with 3 cords or lyrics like "How
beautiful" is music that pleases God when we sing and worship, that is
the point of it all. It gives joy to us, and pleases God, what more could
you desire?
I do agree, that some music, like some preaching is like childhood
banter, but even children are not to be turned away from God. There
are deeper things that we can get from music as well as preaching. I
would not discourage anyone doing what they can with the talents they
have with their skill, knowledge, and so on. If the desire is there to
please and worship God, don’t belittle it.

Christian Rock is cheap. It's like paying a painter big money
to draw a stick-figure Jesus. Anyone can do it. It's sensational.
Music should inform. It should be a sermon upon the Scriptures
in discussion. 'How Beautiful' hardly qualifies. Otherwise it is
'entertainment.'

your tastes, and the styles you like. I would say that it doesn't matter
a twit how skillful the musician is, if all they know is two cords coupled
with a heart to bless God. Seems odd that you are worried about other
people’s works and have this type of stance when it comes to music
and other people's worship and praise.

Interesting that you "praise god and jesus". What about the Holy Spirit?

Christian rock appeals to the perpetual adolescent in the American psyche.

I think the lack of it, as the Righteous Reverend alleged, hardly explains the obsession Christians have with sex and pornography. There is something more going on.

But, to let them perform in public, to applause no less, and to buy their records, making them rich and famous ...
John Coltrane repeated "A love supreme" over and over near the end of an instrumental jazz piece; he did this after a spiritual encounter, the details of which remained private, that ended his addiction to drugs. The music is nearly as old as I, and still moves.
In forty years Amy Grant and Jars of Clay will be long forgotten.
