OK,I like this discussion. First, we have to stipulate that I said 'landlord hires contractor to build the (subject) property", to keep it simple, so Wolf would understand. But, You interject that landlord purchases housing. (acquires buildings in another way). We might lose Wolf here, but here is the deal......It makes no difference how the landlord owns the property. ...[text shortened]... ial about it.
Don't get '...removing chunks of supply from the balance'.

My two minutes are up.
I’m not making moral judgements about people, especially small portfolio landlords, for wanting to make a profit. I’m simply saying for about the 7th time in this thread that replacing large homes for let landlords / portfolios with large publicly owned landlords / portfolios would have no lasting or significant detrimental effect on the market and replacing a profit making tier of ownership with a not for profit tier of ownership would be really good for the consumer of rented accommodation.
The exception to this is the commercial property market which I believe is best left to property developers and hedge fund venture capital.

Castro wasn’t much for profit-making himself, his answer just nationalized everything. So you are starting with properties. Nationalized by your Government? Just wanna be clear. Or, please clarify?

Yeah try rubbing your eyes and have another look.
Just to clarify cooks don’t produce eggs, kindergarten teachers don’t produce children and landlords don’t produce homes.
What do politicians produce? 🤔

LOL - Joe, C'mon.

Fidel and brother Raul were both $$Billionaires long before Fidel passed.
It seems that when he liberated the mineral mines "in the name of the people",
He lied LOL. He liberated them for the Castro brothers.

Oh, dear. Live and learn. Politicians lied and stole? Oh my.

The argument about who 'produces' is moot, Wolf was really off on that one, I have proven that landlords indeed produce. But how about this Kev issue, I hope he responds to allowing Bernie's government to regulate and take over and run the rental industry, and end up owning some of our properties. Creepy, indeed. I have often mentioned that socialism is going to be for the people, ...it will not be for the socialists. AOC and Bernie will be very rich indeed. (Biden is dying, won't be around) But do Kev and all the lib troops have any idea about this? I think they do not. Anyway, I hope he gives us a good clarification. Lord, I hope Sonhouse doesn't chime in.

Wolf seems to think that I said that landlords produce homes.
No I don't.
You are just making stuff up.

I asked what do landlords produce.
Your answer of " I dunno....Living space?" is riiculous.

My wife and I are landlords, I know exactly what we produce ... nada.

You meant to say na na 'na 'na na, I think. How about jumping in with this thing where Kev wants you and me to have a limited amount of rental units? You like that Idea? He thinks you and I make too much money, or maybe he is saying the govt should tell us when we have made just about enough? What IS he saying, anyway. You fellers sure like government. Elect the pitiful Joe, who has done nothing for months, and you will be amazed. The transformation?? It will be coming after You!! Glad you have some rental units. I was admonished earlier on in the forum about mentioning my portfolio, I was just trying to help, but my comment about making money in my sleep (Have you seen Tesla?!) didn't go over well with liberals,,,,,but I do hope they did buy that stock, and Noviak, and Moderna, and Apple...... What a train! Do you think the market will just go straight up if Trump wins? I bet you do. Decisions, decisions....

You have a short memory.
I think private ownership of residential rental property should be banned.

But while it remains legal I choose to maximise my return on investment.
Apart from pensions, everything we have is in property.

And yes, I agree with Kev, we make too much, risk free, easy money.

But, right now, I have another website to visit (my broker), I am GIDDY!!!!!

If they are doing their jobs properly they help generate a civil environment that is conducive to the private and commercial activities of law abiding citizens. If they are not doing their jobs properly they produce a lot of hot air.

Straight from the Americano right wing play book AJ:- if your losing an argument just mention Castro followed by a few non sensical statements. Unfortunately you still lost the argument.

Your concept is to nationalize the apartment industry. That is why I mentioned Castro, an obvious comparison. He did it, you want to do it. Simple as that. Congratulations, your colors are showing, full-blown Bernie colors. He even has you believing that Kamala is part African-American, when in fact she has no connection in any way to Africa or it's genes, except that her family were slave owners.

Not nationalised AJ, city or district owned and able to respond to local housing needs with profits plowed back into local housing and infrastructure both of which are a boon to local commercial ventures.

In other words..."I have made mine, Idon't care about anyone else"

But while it remains legal I choose to maximise my return on investment.

Basically: "I can't control my own innate capitalistic urges and I feel guilty - We must dismantle the system that allow people (like myself) to benefit ( now that I have already done so )."
