McCarthy pulled his picks. It was his decision. He did it publicly and deliberately so that you could make this argument when the time came.

He had other choices, and his choice has been roundly criticized by Trump and others. They had an opportunity to add more Republicans to the committee, but they wanted to retain the ability to claim the committee was partisan.

Facts. Logic. Sworn testimony. It's clear what was going on.

McCarthy wanted to put on an investigative committee two members who were sure to be among those investigated because they had been in direct contact with Trump's aides immediately before, during and after the events of January 6th. Pelosi obviously refused such an absurd request while accepting four other recommended Republicans and invited McCarthy to replace the member ...[text shortened]...

This was a fairly transparent bad faith tactic by Republicans terrified of offending the Donald.
