I think they should be forgiven, but shouldn't be able to reintegeate with society since the urges might still be there.
I propose that we do to them what the British did with their criminals, find a deserted island (for the British it was Australia) and create a penal colony where they can live among themselves in peace.
Hell, do that with all th ...[text shortened]... ld save the cost of building jails.
Sounds draconian and cruel, but consider the alternative.
There is no deserted island left in the world big enough to house the
millions upon millions sex offenders there are. We could create an
artificial atmosphere on the moon I suppose and send them there.

Or, they could be given their freedom back with one glitch. They will have
surgically implanted cameras and microphones (undetectable to the
naked eye, so no one will know their hideous past) recording their every
move. This will give new job to people assigned to monitor the sex
offenders and we can all relax and know that they won't be able to get
anywhere near another victim before the police steps in and prevents it.
How's that? Cost and administration wise it would be no more expensive
than finding a deserted island and put them there. The offender will be
given a decent job and pay for some of the cost him/herself. Yes!
Heureka! I think I just solved the problem here. 😀

Addition: Why keep it limited to sex offenders? This should be
true for anyone who has once been considered a threat to society. In
fact, why not monitor everybody (criminals or not)? Every single person
on this planet. That way we can prevent any crimes from ever happening.
Yeah! I'm a Bob damn genius.

You can give me the Nobel prize now, please. I don't care to wait, what?..
fifty years?..

What happens if some pervert happens to become the operative assigned to monitor said sex offender's eyes and ears, and encourages the offender to re-offend when the operator is on shift doing the offender's monitoring, so that the nasty operator then has front row seats on an illicit sexual encounter as well as the technology to record for their later viewing pleasure A grade smut, all on the taxpayer!

Sounds brilliant! Brings new meaning to the fear of who's watching the watchers!

😵

Everything is recorded, so that if a crime is committed, the police will first
look through the monitored sex offenders and see what they were up to at
the moment of the crime and nail both the offender and the supervisor. HA!
It's brilliant. Brilliant I tell you.

sounds like a sci fi movie i saw once, (star trek?), the one where a probe is planted within the body and can be operated remotely to induce pain. ideal for the thought police

Ha ha ha! He never said that he heard it. He just said: "No", as in it's a fact. 😵

Loved your comeback though. 😉

Yes people can change and be rehabilitated, the entire pychological profession is based appon that princible, but that doesn't change what they did.

Take the innocents from a child is about the most F'ed up thing a person can do and I say instead of rehibilitating them we should recycle them into cat food.

but the real question is how to stop it happening in the first place.
