Yes, it should. Here's the format I suggest.
Played on a large board so everyone can see what's going on. Big. Like maybe each square is four feet on a side.
Pawns weigh 100 pounds. Knights & Bishops 150 pounds, King 200, rooks 250 pounds, queen weighs 300 pounds. It's always speed chess, so you have five minutes to make your move. While ...[text shortened]... ce would ensure that he'd have to worry about you).
Now that's something I'd watch.
And as for chess in the Olympics it's been discussed before (between FIDE and the IOC) and it seems like it won't happen. That's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. It would take the focus away from the Chess Olympiad where it should be.
Some of you may remember the time when FIDE was discussing rules to have drug tests which you could fail by having too high a level of caffeine. That was in an attempt to meet the IOC's rules on drugs. Who wants those kind of rules in chess?

stop being such a cry-baby and harden up a bit.
what input did I and others have for chess becoming a part of the olympic games. sometimes answers are found across the entire foundations of life, and not a little organisation or someone who thinks they know every God-dammed thing.

what advantage does caffeine have? the ability to stay focused over 12 hours during a tournament. P would be far better.
And why would it be so great to have Chess as part of the Olympics? Surrounded by all those so much more spectator friendly sports Chess would be lost. It currently has the Olympiad where Chess is the centre of attention. Why would you give that up?
Originally posted by 7ate9It's not hidden away in the wardrobe. The Chess World has the Olympiad for world competition. Why do we need to shoehorn ourselves into an event that isn't suited for the type of competition that Chess needs? Remember, Chess would need 11 days of full competition plus rest days to have something similar to what happens at the Olympiad. Can you see that happening at the Olympics? It'd be blitz chess or nothing.
maybe caffeine should be tested for, but don't let caffeine hide the other drugs that could be being used at present. i've tried a few drugs, but P is one i never have because of how addictive it's been said to be and the lives it has ruined. yeah, i think caffeine should be tested for.
chess should be a part of the olympic games to follow the tradition of ...[text shortened]... i think chess should be in the olympics for all people, and not hidden away in the wardrobe.
