@wildgrass said#1 - Yes, People die all the time, doesn't make the news. I get it. But this is extreme what is going on in Chicago. 797 murders, 1 year?? Jeeezus. The US lost 2,401 troops in Afghanistan in 20 years.,.. = 120 a year. So it's 7 times more dangerous in the 'hood' in Chicago. Jeeezus 2.
You put two tired false MSM narratives into the same post. Good on ya'.
1) It's false to lump all mass shootings into one category and expect "the media" (whatever that means anymore) to cover it all equally. People die all the time, doesn't make the news. But there is of course a big difference between street violence and mowing down 3rd grade kiddos that warrants diffe ...[text shortened]... ing a murder in Chicago on the front page of the LA Times might be the worst business decision ever.
#2 - The money aspect, too, I get. A plane falls out of the sky, killing 100 people, and it is BIG news. 50,000 die in auto accidents in one year and no one notices. I get it.
I would say Chicago is in between those two cases, Chicago is every day, but especially bad on weekends. So predictable. So crazy.
@shavixmir saidAre you certain that he doesn't?
Why do psychopaths murder and rape people and keep pieces of skin in their fridges… and you don’t?
Again, look at the rest of the world… are we all to live in fear because there may be a criminal with a gun lurking behind a tree?

Media picks national news stories that matter nationally. No one wants to hear about Chicago every day if you live in Montana. But if you live in Montana and you have school age kids, you care about Uvalde. It matters.
Chicago is not ignored by media. There's obviously an issue of scale and interest. No media agenda other than money.
@suzianne saidRepublican governor but St. Louis is hardcore all the way controlled by democrats.
What do you think is going on in St. Louis?
Picnics in the park?
Highest per capita murder rate in the country.
Oh, Republican governor, I see.
Nothing to see here, move along, right?
Black democrats.

Oh, gawd. 😞
Wild, I find it amazing that people of the liberal cloth who normally have great empathy for "the poor, the elderly, and the children", just totally don't care about extreme street violence.
every weekend, chicago loses citizens in numbers similar to some of the school tragedies, but because it is different perpetrators, it does not have the same weight. But let us not forget, school tragedies occur in different schools, but chicago is always chicago.
@averagejoe1 saidPlease read and understand my post before responding to it.
mg...you are who you are. We are who We are. Probably diff cultures, I would think. (suzy would like to make it a color or race thing but I digress). So You-Know-Who is a culture unlike the person who refers to the You Know Whos. I am not a You Know Who. Are you?. Probably not, right? (Suzianne says 'right' a lot). So, when you think of a You Know Who in Chicago, ...[text shortened]... f them.....I dont know nuthin'. I hope this helps. You are sounding like a iib. Be careful;!
You might just look less stupid.
