It never ends with you libs, now we have this crime which carries 6-month suspension. Fishing without a license has a penalty more than that of an illegal alien. Yet, you let all that go......If a Republican had done this..........Oh, never mind.
Very entertaining news, for sure, but evidence of how pitiful your representatives are. My granny is about to quit watching the news.
@AverageJoe1
He said he didn't know it would set off a fire alarm in the building.
What did he think a fire alarm would do, drop confetti?
@jj-adams saidHe'd been a school principal, knows fire alarms. 6-months in jail, obviously a nefarious act to stop a vote. No lib here will say he should go to jail. Why won't they say that? That is the real issue of this thread. We are conversing with disingenuous wimps.

If they say he should be jailed in an orange jump suit, it will open up their liberal other positions to scrutiny, as they will be conflicted. It is this type of a schism which brings out all that emotion.
@averagejoe1 saidSimply pulling a fire alarm when there's no fire is a crime has sent many people to jail for a short time, doing it to abrogate the democratic process in congress should result in a much stiffer sentence.

Dems are always screaming about how everyone should be treated equally under the law no matter who they are, let's see what they say here.
@jj-adams saidNot a good move. Should be censured , punished in some way. The act does not merit removing him from Congress, in my opinion.

@jj-adams saidDoesn't make much sense he would deliberately go to such extent to delay a vote that he and almost every other Democrat voted "yes" on.

If the investigation indicates he did beyond a reasonable doubt, then he should be charged.
@no1marauder saidYou left out "and put in jail.' You libs, you just cant bring yourself to say it. You are the weakest party, get used to it.

@jj-adams saidINTENT is a key element in determining the facts in such matter. You gonna tell us that he did not have such intentions? Has anyone figured out why they are not showing the whole video?
I agree, don't go overboard. DC law about false fire reports:
https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/code/sections/22-1319
Stinks!
@jj-adams saidThe statute requires that one "willfully or knowingly give a false alarm of fire". Bowman claims he did so accidentally and as I have said, the proposal he supposedly delayed was supported by him and virtually all Democrats.

So what evidence refutes his claim that he thought the alarm he was pushing would unlock a door that was usually unlocked? If there is compelling evidence doing so, then he should be punished.
@phranny saidI disagree. IF he pulled the alarm deliberately to delay the vote (which he and virtually all Democrats voted "yes" for) and then lied about it, removal would be justified, if harsh.

@averagejoe1 saidIt's a misdemeanor with a maximum punishment of six months.

No, I don't prejudge what a sentence should be that's for a judge to decide IF and when he is found guilty. We are not the party of knee jerk reactions based on little knowledge of the circumstances; that's for right wing jerks like yourself.
That being said, it's unlikely a defendant with no prior record would get any jail time assuming he pled guilty to that charge.

I guess we are supposed to ignore your position on menendez...LOL
@mott-the-hoople saidDid I give an opinion on what his sentence should be assuming he was convicted of the charges against him?

No, I didn't. Same as here.
