I used the hunter/shagger reference because you did in your origional post. The hunter/shagger decided to live his life the way he did and is happy. In the world of the middle ages, young strong physical men like I would carry swords and would rule, but in today's capitalist world, the lazy fat rich old baby boomers own all, and us youngins are their slaves, this is shavix's point, and I agree...

Young strong physical men would farm unless they were rich. Rich folks would have swords and rule. They'd rule because some ancestor took the country over.

Young men would figure it out if they were smart.
Or had a role-model.

OK, i'll give you the secret to success (American style)
.................

It's only a few things you need to do ...

1. Show up for work everyday.

2, Give it all you've got.

3. Never give up on your dreams.
................

Also, don't whine in public, it's a big turnoff with the girls. Most of them prefer men.

The world does not owe anybody a living even though it
owes each of us a death.

The world does however owe ITSELF not to waste life by means
of greed and corruption.

Depends what you mean by a living.
If you mean surviving, it would be difficult to just survive in today's western world without state benefits, unless you live homeless and hunt (read "beg" ) for your food.
If you mean nice house, wife, car, holiday, etc. then nobody owes anybody anything - you have to go out and get it.
A hippy friend of mine (I used to be a bit of one too) held pretty much the view that he didn't want to work for a capitalist world, but he got kicked out of a commune that he entered for not doing enough work i.e. he was lazy.

I do think the world owes me a living. I certainly don't owe my living to the capitalist pigs who abuse me!

consider a builder's labourer ... building houses for a pittance ... he builds houses for people, yet can only just pay his own rent.

this labourer's house may have even been built by himself ... yet someone else magically charges rent each week.

this other person has never ever built a house!

how the hell does this make sense?

it makes sense from the point of the landlord (justifying the means by the end)
