@Cliff-Mashburn
You really are a lying POS. You will say anything, do anything to sow discontent which is EXACTLY the agenda of the formerly called Republican party.
We really need a republican party as it was where they would balance the ideas of democrats with useful critique and there would be real debate and a compromise would be reached where neither party gets what it wanted but something was passed to help the common people, but today the republican party is a sick shadow of its former self, now a fear mongering hate delivering POS run by Trump.
It is worse than sad. It is the way democracies go straight to authoritarianism which is just what the republican party aims for as we speak.,
And all you little party propagandists are falling over and playing dead not even close to understanding the depths of depravity inherent in this iteration of the former Republican party,
@sonhouse saidTell us again how Republicans are tyrants:

If this person, who is nothing but ideological, Controls the price of eggs, there will be less age. If she controls the price of cars, there will be less cars. If she controls the price of steel, there will be less steel.
And the $25,000 house subsidy will without question caused the price of houses to go up. This will cause the number of buyers to go down.

@AverageJoe1
Right, following the formerly called republican party playbook. I think you WANT democracy to fail here and will do anything, say anything to further that goal.
Doing the work of Project 2025 before Trump even gets elected by some odd freak of nature.
Just because Kamala proposes something on the campaign trail doesn't mean she automatically gets it. That is the POINT of having a REAL two party system to curb things that may or may not help folks.
But that is not the interest of the Trumpican party now, not in the slightest interested in policy, ONLY interested in obtaining power, and total power if they can pull it off. Like I said, look up the word existential that is the threat to democracy inherent in that sinister POS agenda of Project 2025 and BTW, Trump knows all about it, since 140 of the authors were Trump WH employees so don't EVEN go he knew nothing about it and doesn't want it to happen.
@AverageJoe1 saidIt's strange that right wingers have a static view of the economy.

If you took such views to their logical conclusion, they'd say any tax cuts would just trigger more inflation but there they recognize that governmental actions can effect consumer and business decision making. But not in these cases.
I personally think additional measures to target inflation are unnecessary; the latest CPI reports indicate that inflation is running at somewhere between 2.5 to 3% on a yearly basis which is historically low. And grocery prices are only up 1.1% in the last year. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/consumer/grocery-prices-are-now-barely-increasing-rcna166571
But Harris knows that the majority of Americans place much of the blame for higher prices on simple corporate greed - which is certainly plausible given the increased profits made by the major food suppliers. https://www.forbes.com/sites/errolschweizer/2024/02/07/why-your-groceries-are-still-so-expensive/ So she's came up with an idea that will be politically popular if eventually unnecessary.
The main problem with the housing market is inadequate supply and excessive mortgage rates. The Fed needs to address the latter and seems likely to next month. An incentive to first time homebuyers could trigger builders to increase supply otherwise we'll be stuck in the present situation for years. https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/27/economy/housing-market-prices-inflation/index.html
By contrast, Trump's economic ideas - vastly reducing the labor supply and imposing massive tariffs - might very well simultaneously cause a deep recession and an inflation surge.
@sonhouse saidGolly, you must have forgotten to reply to these examples of what will happen. Since you ignore (your latest word) the post, I re-do it here. Can you say I am wrong, or agree with me? Which way you gonna go?

If they control the price of eggs, it will resound all the way through the growers, and the truckers who deliver it, etc ec etc etc. It is astounding that you fellers have no common sense, to realize that THE CITIZENS decide what they will pay for stuff. Water seeks its own level.
Hey Sonhouse....who better to control the cost of things,,,,,the people, or the government? So here is my re-post. If you so much as breathe the name Trump I will not finish any post of yours. This is economics.

@Cliff-Mashburn saidLooks like you pulled that number out of your a**:
She also wants to give $25,000 to everyone that needs help buying a house, 18 million people by her estimate.....just keep printing money, that should cure inflation.
"The campaign estimated that more than 4 million first time-buyers over four years will gain significant down payment assistance through the program.
As part of Harris’ four-year plan to address the high cost and low supply of housing, the campaign proposed 3 million new housing units, a first-of-its-kind tax incentive for home builders who build starter homes for first-time home buyers, expansion of the existing tax incentive for business that build affordable rental housing and a $40 billion fund focused on local housing that doubles the $20 billion fund proposed by the Biden-Harris administration.
“This fund will support the expansion of innovative local efforts, like those in Wake County, North Carolina where they are using American Rescue Plan funds to build or preserve 2,400 affordable housing units including a 100-unit development coming online at Kings Ridge and a 176-unit affordable housing development at [Tryon] Station,” the campaign said in the announcement.
Harris also promised to stop “Wall Street investors” from acquiring single-family rental homes in bulk and landlords from using price-setting tools to “jack up rents”, calling on Congress to pass new legislation."

EDIT: The dreaded "Word too long"
The article is in Yahoo news with the title "$25,000 for first-time homebuyers? Harris promises down-payment aid in NC speech".
Sounds like a good plan addressing both supply and demand issues.
@Cliff-Mashburn
So ignoring what I said, you are so programmed by the MAGA movement you have lost the ability to think for yourself, you really think all of this crap you spew is coming from you.
Project 2025 is real and a real danger to our democracy but you agree with them.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidIf people have that $25k, they will be able to use it to compete with people who will want that same house, but won't be getting the $25k. So, when the negotiating begins, that fake money will cause an unreasonable increase in the value of the house..........................................................
She also wants to give $25,000 to everyone that needs help buying a house, 18 million people by her estimate.....just keep printing money, that should cure inflation.
Their policy of the free money will cause inflated value of houses. Pandemonium will follow these communists everywhere. Sonhouse's grandchild will not be able to buy a house, they will be too expensive.
Sonhouse is showing today that he cannot think or reason. I have never thought of him as being one of the many parasites here.

@wildgrass saidMillions were out of work due to Covid. There was a reason for it, and it was $1200, not $25,000.

There's no reason to give 25 grand away to people so they can buy a house. None.
The stimulus relief checks were overwhelmingly passed by congress, it's not something you can lay at his door.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidI don't support giving govt checks to people for buying homes. But trump signed the checks Cliff. Your logic is insane.

330 million checks, the vast majority went out to people who did not lose their jobs.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidThere's a perfectly good reason for the program; new home sales are way down - almost 40% less than pre-COVID levels. https://www.census.gov/construction/nrs/current/index.html
