I don't support giving govt checks to people for buying homes. But trump signed the checks Cliff. Your logic is insane.

330 million checks, the vast majority went out to people who did not lose their jobs.
Trump didn't have the choice, even if he had vetoed it, congress would have easily overridden the veto.
Not to mention vetoing it would have been political suicide.
And it wasn't 330 million checks, do you think every person in the country got one, including infants and teenagers? There was also an income cap, if you made over a certain amount of money you didn't get one.
Do you live in the USA? Because I can't believe you thought everyone that was alive got a stimulus check.

That program probably avoided a deep depression and enabled the US to economically recover from COVID faster than most other advanced economies.

Sometimes government intervention in the economy is necessary and sometimes it is simply desirable.

Looks like you pulled that number out of your a**:

"The campaign estimated that more than 4 million first time-buyers over four years will gain significant down payment assistance through the program.

As part of Harris’ four-year plan to address the high cost and low supply of housing, the campaign proposed 3 million new housing units, a first-of-its-kind tax incent ...[text shortened]... down-payment aid in NC speech".

Sounds like a good plan addressing both supply and demand issues.
It is very difficult to read a communist about the joys of communism......when we and other millions all over the planet know better. Like, why read it?

My families on the island analogy..... We have a small island council, they just keep the peace, and the citizens make lives for themselves, whatever. One guy has chickens, and sells eggs to another citizen. The council elder gets up from the fire, and walks over to the egg guy. How much did you charge him for the eggs? Egg guy says "enough, and the price could be more or less tomorrow. He was free to buy them, or not, but it had nothing to do with you.""

Marauder can now tell us, if he will come down off his high-horse, what the response by the elder would be

If the goal was to help unemployed then we already have unemployment benefits. Republicans love government handouts.

Everyone got checks. Even if you weren't living in the US. The checks for kids came to their parents.

You pick on Kamala for her bad ideas but Republicans spend more money than Dems do.

Modern economies have very little to do with your simple minded analogies.

Economic systems are man made creations which should serve the needs of the People. IF the People or their elected representatives decide that the price a good is being sold at is too high or too low and wish to regulate it, they have a legitimate power to do so - there is no Natural Right to sell a good at Price X rather than Price Y.

Much of the problem with excessive pricing in the US derives from the government allowing concentration in various industries so that a few firms have market shares exceeding 50%. Addressing that would be a good idea.

Kids under 18 didn't get a check and individuals/households making over a certain amount didn't either, and the amount wasn't that much.

per your link…

“ Like past direct payments, this third round will be based on income.

The income limits for those to receive the maximum amount will remain the same. Individuals who earn up to $75,000 in adjusted gross income, heads of household with up to $112,500, and married couples who file jointly with up to $150,000 will get the full $1,400 per person.”

how exactly is it “more conservative”?
