All good in theory but in the real world, try your local ER room, which because of reality, will have finite resources and capacity, and check out the moral dilemmas that continuously develop.when you have to triage patients and work out who you can save.

Will it be the 70 year old judge with suspected massive internal haemorrhaging from the auto wreck, who also reeks of alcohol, or should it be the crack ho who's losing blood fast through an external trauma brought on by stab wounds as a result of a violent case of domestic abuse, or should the kid with aids who has been a juvie hall favourite all his life get the resources to stabilise their rapid deterioration due to renal complications as a result of alphabet hepatitis , or should the overweight slob who is short of breath and is possibly seconds away from a massive coronary get the support?

first come first served or in the order of severity of injuries.

who are you to play god? i will ask you the same question i asked sir. will you execute them yourself, will you put someone else to do it or will you let them to die?

do you like a scenario when in every hospital there is a worthiness officer who get to live or die based on motives other than medical? maybe it will be a republican turning away all democrats. or turning away someone who had a history of protesting against the government.

of course, if your example ilustrates how we cannot save them all and we must choose, fine, i agree, as long as we choose the one most likely to survive. fine, don't treat the old man, treat the kid, the old man is a gonner and the kid has a chance. but when a gangbanger arrives at the hospital, you are bound by your oath as a doctor to treat him, not let him die because a much less severe hurt law-abiding citizen is waiting for treatment.
