@athousandyoung saidI'm not even going to look up the ballistics because I am 100% sure the 50 cal desert eagle is supersonic by a large margin, with lighter bullets it far surpasses 1100 fps.
I think it’s easy to suppress because subsonic
Edit:
Couldn't help myself.
Is 2000+ fps fast enough to be supersonic?

@jj-adams saidI was referring to the .45 as was Suzi in the post I was responding to:

Since standard-pressure .45 ACP rounds are subsonic when fired from handguns and submachine guns, it is a useful caliber for suppressed weapons to eliminate the sonic boom.
@athousandyoung saidOh....the previous posts were all about the Desert Eagle.
The .45
Yeah, the standard .45 ACP load is subsonic.
There are a bunch of "exotic" loads that do go 1100+ FPS.
@liljo saidI know I hate it when I shoot an intruder and the noise wakes up my wife haha.
Conclusion:
I'll stick with a .45, silence it, then I don't have to worry about waking other folks in the house when I shoot an intruder.
Peace out.
All kidding aside, I had a relative that did kill a burglar at 2Am, bad guy took 5 rounds and died on his living room floor moaning for help and bleeding out. His wife and kids were severely traumatized, and he was destroyed by the experience, not from guilt but from the emotional turmoil.
So screw burglars and home invaders they get what they deserve.

@JJ-Adams
My dad died in a robbery at the mom and pop store of my mom and step dad, he was defending them and almost got the guy but another one came up and shot him in the head point blank.
The robbers went upscale and tried to rob a bank but guards stopped them and they ran, hid in some hotel but got caught and charged with robbery but not my dad's murder.
We found out later, my brother has friends in low places and so coincidentally the guy who killed my dad died with a shiv attack and nobody was charged with that.
He got what he deserved.
