Well, let’s be honest Christianity and Judaism aren’t any better.
And in my eyes, the more orthodox the religion; the more literally they take their literature, the more retarded it is.

The is a link to a story about a girl who citicized Islam online and receiced more than 100.000 death threats.
And the “amusing” thing is, is that it started because she refused to accept someone’s advances and that person started calling her a prostitute.
It’s now a court case in France.
Seriously, people who take their religion so seriously deserve to be strung up by the balls (or labia) and smacked about like a bloody meat piñata.
Fundamentalists are crazy, nasty and depraved of any form of rationality. Horrible, horrible semi-people.
@shavixmir saidYou have any examples of this happening in Christianity and Judaism? She called Islam a religion of hate. Do you really think that she would receive 100,000 death threats if she sad Christianity was a religion of hate? She might get 5 death threats, lets say, but nothing like what happens in Islam. Recently some Islamic extremists beheaded a teacher for something he said. This happens all the time all over the world. There are countless cases like this.

@rajk999 saidChristians shouting anti-gay hate at US funerals of service men.

There’s so much.
@shavixmir saidSo you equate that with this
Christians shouting anti-gay hate at US funerals of service men.
There’s so much.
She has since received 100,000 hate messages, her lawyer says, and lives under 24-hour police protection.
I cant see any resemblance
@rajk999 saidNot to the same degree. But on the same tangent.

I think the separation of church and state keeps the slope from getting slippery.
Otherwise, who knows ?
@mghrn55 saidNot to the same degree. Thank you. Degree is important. The reasons why the degrees are totally different we can discuss that for eternity. Those degrees will remain.

@rajk999 saidI believe I said that, degree is important.

What you missed is that direction is also important.
Both religions seek to move humanity backwards.
That one is more violent is noted. But backwards means backwards.
Religion's vision for humanity is obsolete.
Whether someone blows themselves up in a crowded restaurant or not doesn't change that.
@mghrn55 saidIt is incorrect to say that Christianity is moving humanity backwards. As the centuries go by, Christianity has become far more tolerant and less violent. The list of wars fought and the resulting bloodshed in the name of God were extreme, in the last 1000 years. The biggest and longest being the Spanish Inquisition which ended around the mid 1800. Since then Christianity is tame.

You know as well as I do that Jews and Christians are joined at the hip.
There is NO EXCUSE for America to aid and abet this Nazi regime known as Israel.

@rajk999 saidI get your point.

You measure the progress of any religion by measure the level of violence associated with it. And by that measure, you have made a point.
I measure any religion by it's relevance against human progress.
Often, that progress will cause friction with that religion, or any ideology besides religion (flat earthers come to mind, even though they are fringe).
That friction can be mild, eg discomfort with science (eg Darwin) and the technological advances that come with it, or more severe, eg reproduction management or sexual boundaries being relaxed.
If the gap between static ideas and dynamic ideas becomes too large, the friction increases, worst case scenario being war (holy, civil or otherwise).
Perhaps I go over the top when I use terms like obsolete, but conservatism is static and liberalism is dynamic in nature. And the gap will widen.
We're seeing it happen in the US.
@mghrn55 saidYou raise some interesting points. I will reply tomorrow.

@earl-of-trumps saidJews are a powerful lobby in the USA so your hope that one day they will abandon Israel is highly unlikely. The same bible says there is a time for war and a time to kill.
rajk,
You know as well as I do that Jews and Christians are joined at the hip.

@shavixmir saidYou have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘Hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even Gentiles do the same? - Matthew 5: 43-47

Heaven forbid anyone take this seriously. If only the world had fewer people practicing such destructive practices.
@rajk999 saidOh listen to the pro-life lobby wail.

And hark as the Christian right in the US denounces communism in their 30.000 people churches.
Is it not the Christian right who refer to themselves as WASP and hate anyone who isn’t white, anglo-saxon... and protestant?
There is no degree of importance. Extremists are extreme and the only degree is to be found in how literal they take their books.
