@mghrn55 saidWell, I measure the fundamental extremist element in any religion by the level of violence [and death threats since these are related], and my point is that in Christianity it is low. Islam has the highest among all religions.
I get your point.
You measure the progress of any religion by measure the level of violence associated with it. And by that measure, you have made a point.
I measure any religion by it's relevance against human progress.
Often, that progress will cause friction with that religion, or any ideology besides religion (flat earthers come to mind, even though they are fringe).
...[text shortened]... atic and liberalism is dynamic in nature. And the gap will widen.
We're seeing it happen in the US.
Christianity and progress. .. Well I stand to be corrected here but if I remember correctly it was in Christian nations where the bulk of technological progress was made, and it was back in the middle ages when the seeds of this was sowed. Then in the last century most of the developments in medical science, computer technology and all manner of development had its roots in the US and Europe, all of which are strong Christian countries. Of course other countries took these technologies and improved them and mass produced them, but it is in Christian nations where human progress as we know it all started.
These fringe extremists like flat earth and creationists are are dying breed. In 2 generations they will all be extinct. As for the future, many churches are no longer discriminating against gays etc for what they consider to be sexual deviants. They are being brought into churches and participating despite their preferences.
Far from obsolete Christianity is on the verge of moving away from strict adherence to a set of beliefs, to one which preaches and practices love, charity and good works towards all people. And this is stated in the bible.
@Rajk999
Well you would have trouble putting yourself in the shoes of those whose loved one is being buried and some ASSSHOLES start screaming at you showing just how empathic they are.
Try it sometimes. Putting yourself in the shoes of the victims of that disgusting incident.
