Basically anyone caught with a street gun is what I mean by "criminals" in these conversations.

If the law did that then gun violence would drop by 90 percent practically overnight.

Actually Mary would be grandfathered in but nobody else would be able to buy such a gun in the future.

Ray Martinez, the LAPD detective investigating the case, is seeing fewer such fatal drive-by shootings. When Martinez goes behind the yellow tape, he's more commonly working on cases where a gunman has walked straight up to the victim — a walk-up shooting.

As gang culture has become less overt, the killings have become more targeted — and at the same time more chilling.


This kind of random, senseless mass killing of innocent civilians is a big no-no in gang culture. It's considered a "bad crime" and will get the perpetrator killed on the inside. The gangs know this. They haven't been doing drive bys in decades. They kill who they set out to kill and not every child in a school.
