So you are perfectly fine with DOJ losing the independence it has enjoyed for over 200 years, I guess you WANT Trump to control DOJ so he can weaponize his push to attack his political enemies or just people who criticize him.
Can't have THAT now can we, folks giving their opinion about Trump?
OFF WITH THEIR HEADS. So you have zero problems a POTUS can use the power of his office to attack individuals like what they did to the Freeman family?
You see nothing wrong with POTUS using his power to attack individuals, something never done before in US history because the presidency HAD been considered sacrosanct, due to previous presidents actually believing they should show loyalty to the constitution which Trump has said several times ON TV he thinks the constitution should be killed.

The hypocrisy is SO clear, the last time he took the oath of office to protect the constitution and will even MORE clear this time when he has already stated his opinion of the constitution.

BTW, why won't Trump sign the ethics agreement he himself signed into law so they can make for a smooth transition of power? Right now, refusal to sign means till Jan20 there will be ZERO exchange of information like national security data and such so unsigned means Jan 20 comes and he is "sworn in', only on that day will national security data be allowed to be discussed by incoming folks.

I think it is because Trump HATES the IDEA of ethics codes since he clearly wants to control ALL of our government, putting forth asssholes like Gaetz is clear proof of that since good old matty is about as loyal to Trump as any human on the planet and WILL do exactly what Trump wants in DOJ if this POS actually gets confirmed.
I assume you are full in on ALL of that, the end of democracy, the end of independent branches of our government and POTUS now thinking there is nothing wrong with Trump using the power of the presidency to attack individuals or institutions he considers 'enemy'.
So you also clearly therefore have no problem with the coming end to democracy here where Trump calls the shots of elections just like his mentor Putin.

Once Trump is out of the picture, the power he seemingly has over people will be gone. The Trumpublican Party is just a cult of personality, and we all know it. Once that person is gone, it'll fade away like a bad dream.

We need to start thinking about 1) who we should run once he's gone, and 2) how to resist his lust for power until then.

Trump is in office to PROTECT US citizens not personally attack those he considers his opponents.

Tell me of any other POTUS who used DOJ as his personal attack base?

That appointment technique was originally put in place for EMERGENCIES like earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and terror attacks and such NOT as a weapon to show just how strong Trump is, that is why he wants to do that, even though the senate would approve of just about anyone he wants but that is not good enough for a would be dictator, he wants 100% TOTAL control of ALL branches of government and that is exactly why he chose Gaetz to be AG because Gaetz has 100% TOTAL fealty to Trump and will be his willing puppet to do whatever presidential abuse of power he wants.
