Its unbelievable how eerily cooperative they are. It’s almost like they got an order from the hive mind not to touch this with a 10 ft pole.

"Hello? Hello? Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?
Come on now
I hear you're feeling down
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
Okay
Just a little pinprick
There'll be no more, ah
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I have become comfortably numb" - Pink Floyd

Way to expose the elderly to Coronavirus New York. Seems to me the people who made this decision need to be charged with premeditated murder.
With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, this was clearly a mistake.

Still, at the time, the IHME model was predicting that NY would need 4 times the number of hospital beds than we had available. We had just watched in Wuhan and Lombardy where the hospitals were totally overwhelmed. They probably figured that the nursing homes would set up special floors for stable COVID patients.

Thankfully, the NY hospital system did NOT get overwhelmed, thanks to a variety of factors. But the decision at the time was not so unreasonable considering the mammoth shortage of hospital beds we thought we were facing.

Benefit of 20/20 hindsight? Really?

At what point in this lockdown did we not know the elderly in Nursing Homes are at the highest risk?

What if your mother was in one of those nursing homes?

Oh wait, you and your family are rich enough, so who cares what happens to the poor?

Assuming I've understood this correctly and what they were doing was returning patients who were resident in the Care Home when they became sick to the Care Home when they no longer needed hospital treatment, then they did the same thing in the UK for the same reasons. From the first covid-19 death in a Care Home (including for the care of mental health patients) there have been 20,863 deaths of patients registered by 17th April, of these 3,096 were of covid-19 which is 14.8% of deaths in Care Homes. I do not know how big the population in care is. We do not know how big a factor returning patients to Care Homes was, since they must have been resident in the Care Home and infectious from when they were infected until they were hospitalized. In other words, the policy may well have made no difference.

@DeepThought

So if a nursing home resident has covid, then the patient needs to remain in the nursing home. That makes no sense whatsoever. Nobody with covid should be allowed in Nursing Homes.

So they are returning covid patients, endangering residents who are not sick.

Whether or not that's true, is there any reason this issue should become a political football?
