'North Korean pop music is light and optimistic, usually performed by a young female singer in front of a large band. All music is in praise of Kim Jong Il, or otherwise the ideals of Communism, and songs have titles like "Our Life Is Precisely a Song", "We Shall Hold Bayonets More Firmly" and "The Joy of Bumper Harvest Overflows Amidst the Song of Mechanisation"' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_North_Korea

Wish I could find the lyrics.

Actually, the site above has downloads available for such classic titles as:

•No Motherland Without You (Kim Jong Il’s signature tune, the lyrics to which list his super-human powers.)
•The Song of General Kim Il Sung
•The Song of the Dear Comrade Kim Jong Il

Maybe Casey Kasem should do the Top 40 North Korean countdown.

Edit: I see Bosse has beaten me to the punch.

The pin-up calendar "Women of the Coastal Artillery" makes a great Christmas gift.

Not that North Korea does christmas. Calendars are probably frowned upon too.

As a motivating factor, though, the US could make a casual comment that a nuclear-armed North Korea would have to be counterbalanced with a nuclear-armed -- oh, which one?...Taiwan, say.

That might possibly create an interesting dialogue.
And following through with such a threat might possibly cause WWIII. To compare North Korea's importance to the US to Taiwan's to China shows an almost imbecilic view of world politics.

The Rapture will come soon enough; why are you right wing nuts in such a hurry?

N. Korean propaganda also claims Kim Jong can do other amazing things:

"Also an apparent golfer, North Korean state media reports that Kim routinely shoots three or four holes-in-one per round"

This is a shockingly inept translation of an ancient Korean marital proverb.

Sanctioning China to step into the region as local deputy of Global Industrial interests, would surely signal a massive shift in the way the international community does its security business. Instead of arming up Taiwan to counterbalance NK, what if China itself were simply allowed by the international community to start more pro-actively *protecting* its south eastern border should Kim Jong get more "ill". Allowing China to build up forces on her shared border may prove enough of a *message* to get them to soften their belligerent attitudes.

So North Korea set off a nuclear bomb. Now, again, they say the seismic tests were inconclusive. So basically we have no idea whether they did it or not -- or as the Bush administration used to call it, "a slam dunk."
