Err, ozone and acid rain? Are you saying that those were/ are not real?

Spoiler alert, just like global warming those are real things. The Montreal protocol worked! Scientists fixed the ozone layer hole. Its a huge fracking success story in how humans with our big brains can come together and solve problems.

The problem with climate change now is the misinformation ca ...[text shortened]... he odd ball conspiracy theorist, admits that climate change is real. He disagrees only on solutions.
Where is metalbrain… he was so much more rational than what’s replaced him.

Leaving the world a better place for the next generation has nary to do with religion. It's an evolutionary instinct, bludgeoned to death by adult Facebook-era narcissism.

Regardless of that tangent, scientists got rid of an existential hole in the ozone layer for a big bargain, yet you imply it was always just a hoax?

the world didn't end like they said it would.

It's not a scam, mate. Heroes woke up day after day thinking that they would help make the world a better place... Thought about how to solve the ozone layer problem. It is a really big problem.

And they did. They solved it so you can go on living with intact skin while outside. You give them no credit.

John McClean (aka Bruce Willis) goes out there and saves the world from an AI-generated meltdown, sacrifices himself, barely survives...

eYe: "See I told you we would be fine. That guy just waaaay overreacted. Now who will clean up the mess? Not me."

How much cleanup are you prepared to enforce?

Let's start with micro plastics.

Acid rains impact on North America is far far less than it was in the 1970s because of strict air pollution regulation.

The notion that humans are not changing the climate is ridiculous. We are pouring greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and that of course warms things up.

The notion that climate change will result in human extinction is silly. It would take 5,000 years for the Worst Case Scenario (WCS; below) to develop. Humanity will act long before then to rein in the most d ...[text shortened]... y. That's just being good great-great-great-great-grandparents.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
[For me, my house is 134m above sea level. So I'm good 😀 ].
naive thinking if you're honest. kind of weak joke if you're joking.

"It would take 5,000 years for the Worst Case Scenario (WCS; below) to develop."
you're missing the link that proves this claim.

"The notion that we have to reduce our standard of living in order to combat climate change is alarmist."
On one hand i agree. Most of the climate change is caused by huge corporations. You can make an impact if you do some recycling and drive a better car and don't leave your AC on with the windows open and if everyone else does the same. But until the industries around the globe are green it's the height of hypocrisy to ask the consumer to make an effort saving the planet while the major corps are causing orders of magnitude more harm.

"The Worst Case Scenario on climate change is the total melting of ice caps, 65m sea level rise, a hellish landscape inhospitable to cultivation in certain areas, 90-95% species extinction, much more massive storms, the collapse of all major human civilizations, and survivors moving to the poles,"
this is some scenario out of an apocalypse move. In reality you don't need that much. Imagine what would happen if China loses it's east coast due to flooding. I think about 140 million people live there. Imagine them having to migrate and the epidemics that follow mass migration. Imagine the farmland lost and the subsequent famines that follow. What do you think China might do if it can't feed its people? What would India do? Imagine several Katrinas hitting the US each year.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level_rise

No, humanity won't go extinct. We just might lose millions of people. Famine, diseases, war, extreme weather. All because some people think everything is fine and it's a problem for the 5th or 10th generation from now. Katrina was a light drizzle. Several katrinas year after year will be felt, even if New York is not 60m under water like in the movies.

You want government to force companies to pay me for ingesting micro plastics? A credit cards worth of plastic every year? How much would they owe me?

"It's a scam against the taxpayer. "
yeah because you don't pay taxes to subsidize the oil industry. Scam: paying to develop an energy industry that will last forever but not subsidizing an industry that will run out of the substance that it's burning

"Why do you care?"
some aren't selfish sociopaths.

"If you don't believe in god then your life is a fleeting existence that isn't really worth anything so why do you care about what the planet might be like in 100 years?"
some aren't selfish sociopaths.
some value existence for itself, not for the cynical promise of a cookie after death. An atheist who does good is vastly superior morally to a christian that does it for a reward in the afterlife
