Crony capitalists love solar.
Crony capitalists first buy up all the producers of solar panels to form a monopoly so that they can control the price. Then they lobby for tariffs on imported solar cells because 'safety' and 'jobs' and 'what about the children?'
Then they ask government to issue restrictive zoning ordinances so that solar panels can only be placed on ...[text shortened]... tical process to provide healthcare.
But at least the children are safe. Thank the gods for that.

Then they ask government to issue restrictive zoning ordinances so that solar panels can only be placed on 'regulated facilities' not on individual homes because 'aesthetics' and 'what about the children?' Then the crony capitalist buys up the regulated solar facilities.
A crony capitalist is the person LEAST interested in free markets on the planet. He is actually a socialist because he relies on government to make his money.
Sounds like Francisco D'Anconia's business strategy.
@spruce112358 saidThis is worse than wiki, I googled the author, it's a blog by a professional whiner and parasite whose grift is: the worse it sounds the more likely they are to get an audience of suckers. We should take the advice of a blog opinion piece (a girl with her hand out) over the example of a multimillion dollar project, many thousands of which went into design, viability and an investigation into the projected life of the runway.
@Wajoma
This is not wiki. I didn't know the Maldives is the lowest-lying country in the world. Sounds like they have a lot of problems, but sea level rise may have one good effect: they will go from having 3% of the world's reefs to 6%! Of course, the corals will grow on newly submerged buildings, but hey... Always look on the bright side...

@Suzianne saidOther than mentioning I did some research, (something you've forgotten how to do), the post does not mention my-good-self. It remains on topic (something you're now attempting to divert from) and makes a relevant point i.e. that a project of this size (in this case airport runways) is checked, re-checked and re-checked again at considerable cost to ensure that two years from now it doesn't get washed away. And that given the financial risk it is reasonable to grant more credibility to the results of these feasibility studies than to some lone whiney bytch kant blogger that sounds a lot like you.

@spruce112358 saidwhat, you're surprised that someone is looking to make a profit in the green industry?

that has nothing to do with "is the climate changing and should we do something about it"
"burn less fossil fuels" is not made worse an idea because someone might abuse solar panels or wind turbines or geothermal energy or whatever.
i am confused what your point was, please explain.
@Wajoma saidIt's not exaggerating or hyperbolic to state that the vast majority of hottest days in recorded history have happened in 2023 or 2024. As of may, over 100 new record highs have been recorded.

Hard to imagine just the air conditioning bill, much less all the other massively expensive infrastructure changes that will be required to adapt.

@wildgrass saidAll that proves is that global warming is real, not that it is mostly man made. We recently came out of the little ice age which was caused by the volcanic winter of 536. The global cooling was natural therefore the warming now is as well.

You just proved naturally caused global warming is real. There is absolutely no evidence at all that CO2 causes global warming. The warming caused CO2 levels to rise in the atmosphere, not the other way around.
Why do you continue to insist that a mere rumor that temps lagged behind CO2 levels is true? It is a blatant lie. The ice core samples proved the opposite was true.
Edit: Your data must exclude heat island effects as well which I do not believe has been done. The vast majority of hottest days in recorded history may or may not have have happened in 2023 or 2024. Misleading with bogus data exemplifying the heat island effect is propaganda. You should know better than to rely on cherry picked data of the heat island effect.
