Has anyone mentioned Hillary's emails yet?
Trump's holding onto presidential documents would mean he engaged in acts similar to that of his 2016 Democratic rival Hillary Clinton when she was under the agency's probes for using a private email server as the secretary of state. He repeatedly called for investigations into her emails.
Similarly, many of the Republicans upset with the FBI raid also supported the agency's investigations into Clinton in 2016.

@mott-the-hoople saidExcept Trump didn't follow the rules for declassification, which is why he's under investigation. So your point fails.
clinton did not have the power of declassification... the president does...

Except Trump didn't follow the rules for declassification, which is why he's under investigation. So your point fails.
Part 3. Declassification and Downgrading
b) It is presumed that information that continues to meet the classification requirements under this order requires continued protection. In some exceptional cases, however, the need to protect such information may be outweighed by the public interest in disclosure of the information, and in these cases the information should be declassified. When such questions arise, they shall be referred to the agency head or the senior agency official. That official will determine, as an exercise of discretion, whether the public interest in disclosure outweighs the damage to the national security that might reasonably be expected from disclosure.
Part 4. Safeguarding
(d) Classified information may not be removed from official premises without proper authorization.
Sec. 4.4. Access by Historical Researchers and Certain Former Government Personnel.
(a) The requirement in section 4.1(a)(3) of this order that access to classified information may be granted only to individuals who have a need-to-know the information may be waived for persons who:
* (1) are engaged in historical research projects;
* (2) previously have occupied policy-making positions to which they were appointed by the President under section 105(a)(2)(A) of title 3, United States Code, or the Vice President under 106(a)(1)(A) of title 3, United States Code; or
* (3) served as President or Vice President.
(b) Waivers under this section may be granted only if the agency head or senior agency official of the originating agency:
* (1) determines in writing that access is consistent with the interest of the national security;
* (2) takes appropriate steps to protect classified information from unauthorized disclosure or compromise, and ensures that the information is safeguarded in a manner consistent with this order; and
* (3) limits the access granted to former Presidential appointees and Vice Presidential appointees to items that the person originated, reviewed, signed, or received while serving as a Presidential appointee or a Vice Presidential appointee.
There is more, lots more. A president cannot simply pack up whatever he wants and take it with him, without informing various govt bodies in writing what he is taking with him and for what purpose. This is exactly what Trump did: he packed up souvenirs. No go.

@vivify saidJuuuust once it would be nice to hear one politician (someone, anyone) acknowledge their absurd hypocrisies.

@woofwoof saidRiiight... So since we're on it let's end the hypocrisy.
Hillary Clinton's private Email was hers entirely and she could do with it as she saw fit.
Unless, of course, Republicans hold the reigns of control: Then it's a completely different story.
Hypocrisy is a blind beggar.
( Waiting to hear if you think what Hillary did.was fine...)
(Still waiting...)
"What Hillary did was fine so trump can do it."
Orrrrr....
"Hillary should be locked up in Guantanamo and.... "

Look man, you're fighting on the wrong side.
You're an American.
You're probably a good person.
But you've been mislead.
Please think critically.
Vary your sources.
Then come to your senses;
and reconsider your position.
Sort of like chess.

@vivify
That link is about legal ownership of official records; Trump is being investigated for illegal ownership.
prove it.
the National Archives and Records Administration said they retrieved 15 boxes of White House documents from Mar-a-Lago, a violation of the Presidential Records Act, since those records should have been at the National Archives.

Jimm, Jimm, Jimm,
The million-dollar question:
How did the National Archives and Secure Facility let this man go to Florida with those documents?
@vivify saidOk, that is good information to have. (tho, I do not yet considered it proven)

Now the next logical question comes up when we realize that Trump took those TOP SECRET documents with him
to Mar-a-Lago in Florida and the National archives did nothing for one year. And even then, they displayed a lack
of knowledge as to exactly what Trump had with him, in terms of classified documents.
HOW DOES THIS EVEN HAPPEN???
I put more blame on to the secure facility than I do Trump.
Don't worry, you can still call Trump a criminal. for now. But aren't you a bit p!ssed at this National Archives org??

There are ap proximately 9 billion pages of textual records; 7.2 million maps, charts, and architectural drawings; more than 20 million still photographs; billions of machine-readable data sets; and more than 365,000 reels of film and 110,000 videotapes.
When you have 9 billion pages of text it may take a little while to notice a few hundred are gone.
