Why is it that nobody asks Obama why the USA/South Korean joint military drills are not taking place further south so the DPRK does not feel threatened?

The DPRK obviously does not like these drills taking place so close to their country. They probably feel these drills could turn into an invasion without much warning. Seems understandable to me.

Why is this not being discussed on the corporate news media? Are Americans being conditioned into not asking what the DPRK wants or why they are so upset? Why is it that people assume that the DPRK started all of this? There is a difference between an action and a reaction.

The military drills are an action.
The threats from the DPRK are a reaction to the military drills, right?

The solution to avoiding war is simple. Move the military drills away from North Korea. Why not do this? Isn't it worth avoiding the risk of war or is war what Obama wants?

Obama's pretty hawkish regarding national security, but the fundamental reason to have drills in that area is that that's the area that any fighting would happen in, and the local topography is pretty important in battles. A surprise attack is pretty unlikely, much as North Korea can be a problem for the Chinese they are unlikely to look kindly on an invasion by anyone else. The U.S. and the South are aware of this and aren't going to overstep the mark.

They are likely just diverting attention from something else. Have some exercises and get the koreans to do the same then only focus attention on the Koreans. My guess is Mrs. Obama bought a diamond encrusted bra at taxpayers expense and they are keeping the news media busy with korea.

All the more reason for the DPRK to hate the USA/South Korea for doing the military drills there.

Because it's kind of a dumb question - backing down would send the message that hawkish rhetoric works, and it would make the Obama administration look terribly bad at home, unleashing an unrelenting tidal wave of faeces from Republicans.

It was kind of dumb for Obama to hold drills so close to the DPRK in the first place. Now that he doesn't want to back down he must risk war because of escalating tensions.

God forbid should he risk criticism to save lives. 🙄

The whole point of the drills, is a show of force. (not an actual threat of invasion as you seem to think).

Those drills have been going on since long before Obama took office. The reason they're close to the border is because that's where are troops are, and where they need to be.

Show of force? Is that just a euphemism for intimidation?

They should show their force somewhere else. I'm sure the DPRK is aware of the military capability.

The USA could easily use the military drills as a cover for an invasion. It would enable the USA/South Korea to have the element of surprise which would be a tactical advantage. You can say it is not a threat all you want. I'm sure the DPRK would not agree.

What if Russia and North Korea were to do military drills right next to the USA? Do you seriously think that would be tolerated without any perceived threat? Get real.

So what. The DPRK has hated it since it first started too.

Your reasons for the drills being close to the border are weak at best. The drills don't need to be there. Now you are just making stuff up.

What factual thing did I make up? The drills are training exercises, and those take place on these things called military bases. Stop training because some dead nut job didn't like it and his nut job son doesn't like it either?

The border area is so different to any other region they could practice in?

The USA has military bases further south.
