This cold blooded attitude by the GOP is a classic example of why republican lawmakers cannot connect with women and minorities. Republicans seem to care only for the affluent, and view the poor (and those struggling to find jobs) as human debris that should be ignored. This attitude stands in stark contrast to their christian values image they try so hard to nurture. With this clearly in mind, its easy to see why a majority of Americans now favor keeping Obamacare in place, despite it's flawed rollout

Have you ever considered the difference between nurturing christian values and forcing christian values, bill?

its the same in the UK the conservatives(republicans) are trying to privatise our health service making it virtualy impossible to get decent health care for the working class and unemployed.

Please don't let them do it. Healthcare in the UK is far ahead of the USA.

our hospitals are underfunded understaffed and overwhelmed for example.. at work last year I slashed my leg with a Stanley knife(carpet fitter) my boot was filling with blood but it was a 6 hour wait to see a doctor.

More hysteria.

The issue should be taken care of by the states. Although I don't agree with Romenycare, it is an example of what I'm talking about.

i would love to hear arguments on that.

how about "poor people are lazy bums. if only they would work as hard as me"
or "everyone can have his/her dream come true, you just have to keep trying"
or "health trickles down, bro, just be patient"
or "500k a year might sound much, but it is really hard to live on that"

or my favorite: "I never got help from anyone, why do YOU ask for help"

and you believe that if healthcare becomes expensive so that poor people couldn't afford it, next time you cut your leg you would be more ahead in line? free of all those pesky peasants that dared to be more injured than you?

Why would you say that? Just because there's a "you hate poor people" thread going on now?

If there was a way to make all poor people rich, I suspect it would have been practised by now.

Promising people "stuff", and actually helping them to be able to get "stuff" on their own is a huge difference.

Your thread title line is just a flat out lie. By the time Obama Care is fully implemented there will likely be just as many or more uninsured as there were before it, and everyone else will be paying a lot more and getting worse service.

How do the rich, or anyone else prosper by pricing out the majority of customers?

simple my dear capitalist american:
by setting a decent price for insurance middle class americans could afford, the insurance companies are getting a steady income from healthy americans with low risk of getting actually sick.

meanwhile, people who actually do need medical attention are left out.

pretty clever, huh? and completely inhumane

Anything that is broken will eventually break, even if the government goes bankrupt trying to keep it going. Healthcare is going to fall the only question is what else it will bring along with it.
