There is a reason why Ronald Reagan correctly labeled the USSR "the evil empire". Poland knows what it is like to be under Russian domination and that is the reason why they look to the US for protection. Poland would rather not return to the days of Soviet domination, which is exactly what Russia is working towards at this time.

If the US had done to Mexico what the Soviets did to Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe, then I'd see the connection. Russia does not have the right to treat its neighbors like crap. They are not Russia's to do with as Russia sees fit.
Poland is its own nation. If Poland wants US protection from the Russian Bear, then I say we give it to them.

The US just needs to move all of its military forces from Germany and place them in Poland. The German people don't want us there anyhow.
We can be in a country that wants our presence and Poland can reep the economic benefits of having US bases.
For centuries the Russians have invaded other countries repeatedly no matter what type of government ruled Russia.

I was born and raised in California. I work in a Los Angeles inner city public school. I'm half chicano and very patriotic about the USA. There are plenty of Mexicans here with a different culture. I'm not biased in favor of Mexico by any means in this issue, but what happened happened.
It's easy to say "we should forget the past" when your country (i.e. Eladar's country of the USA) has profited enormously at another country's expense in the past.
Oh, you're not Lithuanian after all, you're a Texan. No wonder. I misread what you wrote. The takeover of Texas was a blatant conquest, extraordinarily similar to what happened in South Ossetia.
