Is the conviction in question not worthy of discussion because someone was convicted of a similar crime sometime in the past?

This is nothing new. What is unique about this that it is worthy of no1 getting giddy about them going to prison while Ray Epps goes free after "orchestrating it"?

Clearly you’ve never heard of the acronym ‘SNAFU’. Given that this the first time, certainly this century, that a mob has stormed the capitol on the orders of an outgoing president to prevent the transfer of power to the incoming president. The capitol police and other security personnel did a good job against literally overwhelming numbers.
No reasonable, sane or honest person can watch that video and convince themselves that it was a facade or an inside job on any large scale.

No one is claiming that they were very likely to succeed but a stupid seditious conspiracy is still a seditious conspiracy.
It’s also reasonable for the electorate to be informed about the intent of a future presidential candidate and the sort of administration he or she might be heading. Why would you give someone that even attempted to thwart the will of the people a second chance at the helm with access to the levers that might make their second attempt successful.
