I'm not a gun nut, either way. It seems that the gun nuts, NRA, Republican party, and libertarians would be flocking to defend Hunter in this. They don't seem to care. Which leads me to believe that they are so beholden to their cult leader that they have abandoned their principled positions on key issues.
